pregnant after miscarriage?

by wendysculy, Dec 28, 2008 09:39AM
I just miscarriage on halloween this year.  I had an ultrasound done because I started bleeding and this was at 11 weeks, but they told me that the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks.  because it was a friday and my doctors were gone the place doing the ultra sound sent me home.  so I had a natural miscarriage at home(awful) and then went to my doctor to make sure the I passed everything.  it was a complete miscarraige so My husband and I waited for one cycle that was this month and then we tried again.  my first period after the miscarraige was awful. it started out 12/22 very light almost just spotting and then became very heavy by thanksgiving.  I have taken pregancy test now and the lines are all very faint.  I think that is postive but I am not sure what date I should count from the 22 or thanksgiving.  I just want to know if I am pregnant or is something else going on.

I'd wait another week and test...although, a positive test is a positive test whether it is faint or not...and I am sure your doctors checked to make sure your hcg levels had dropped back to non-pregnant levels SOOO I don't think this would be residual hcg from the October mc.

Good luck, and you could always call your doctor to confirm the pregnancy with a blood test etc.

You count for the first day of your last period so 11/22

thanks I took a blood test on friday and today the doctor told me that the hormone level was 17 which she said was very low so I had to re test today.

I retook my blood test on monday and the test said that my hormone level was 13. The doctor says that I am not pregnant or most likely not. A digital home pregnancy test says that I am. they say that it is left over from the october miscarriage or a second miscarriage. but my period still has not started and it has been a week. the lines on the home tests are all darker now. so did I miscarry again or our my hormones just very low and they go up and down. I have to retake the test next week, but this is to make sure my hormoes are at zero( because they think it is from my first miscarriage) AHH

It sounds like your levels are still going down. It can take 6 weeks for your HCG levels to return to 0 after a miscarriage.

I had a miscarriage two days before thanksgiving 2008.  I took a pregnancy test before Christmas and it tested positive three days later I had my first period.  I took another home pregnancy test three days after my period and it showed that I was not pregnant. I assumed that my hormone levels had dropped and I would ovulate we tried to concieve.  I just took another test Jan 19 and it was a strong positive.  Does this mean that I am pregnant again?

I found out I was pregnant Dec 9, 2008.  I knew the pregnancy was not viable after two ultrasounds and four blood tests.  I began bleeding on January 21st and ended up getting an emergency D and C because I was hemorrhaging.  Now, I am waiting for my 2 week follow-up appointment.  I am wondering when I can expect my next period, when I can start trying again and if I can get progesterone supplements of some sort while we try to have another baby.  It has been a long 2 months and part of me is glad that it is finally over.  But I am very anxious to get pregnant again so that I do not feel so sad.  I also wanted my children closer together than 3 years.  I guess God had different plans.
