update on my son -- OT

by waitn838, Apr 03, 2008 09:35AM
hey ladies...

for those that have been following my story and everything that has been going i just wanted to update you on my son

i took him for his follow up appt this morning and the doc did some general breathing tests and it has now been confirmed my son has asthma :(

the doc isnt sure if he'll be able to outgrow it since he's 4 now but she is going to do more testing (cystic fibrosis and immunity bloodwork) to see if its possible

my son (Aiden) has been doing since he came home from the hosp but the doc says he still has a bit of pnemoia is his one lung and he needs to take it easy...at least he's doing better though

i dont have asthma but i know others who do...i just hope my little man will be able to run and play sports and just be a kid....

My brother had asthma sooo bad as a kid - was in the hosp at least once  a month, but it never stopped him from playing sports and playing with the other kids.  And once they found the right combo of meds for him he was rarely at the hosp.  He out grew it around 15 I think.  Good luck and give him lots of hugs and kisses!!

Im so sorry to hear about your son, ive had asthma since i was born but wasnt diagnosed untill i was two. As long as he has the right medication he should be able to lead a normal life. I have been in and out of hospital since a young age and i am now on very good medication

thank you both :)

its comforting knowing that with the right med he'll be able to play sports and run around...he's always been an active child and i dont want him to lose that spunk

oh I am sorry.... i am sure he will be ok. my oldest brother is 29 and he has had asthma since he was about 5 and he can play sports and run.... i would not worry about that too much! i am sure Aiden will be fine! Hes a boy they wont let something stop them  from being wild and rambuxious! i hope that he starts to feel much better soon!

both my 3 and 4 yo have asthma...it hasn't stopped them from anything  yet.  They aren't on daily meds, I just watch them and when they start wheezing I start the breathing treatments...

I had asthma horrible as a small child...but now it only bothers me if i don't stay in shape
