yay my period is here!

I am happy to say my period is here! (I never thought I'ld say that) I have been spotting for about a week and today there is actual blood. I had a d and c on 12/11 so I ve been waiting for my period so that I could ttc again. Does anyone know if I should consider the first day of my period the day I began spotting or today the first day of my period? Also, is it true that 14 days from day 1 is mst likely the day I am ovulating? Thank you for all of your advice through this difficult time
