? Salt=lacking something ?

Here the passed two weeks or so my taste buds are out of whack. I seem not to notice or realize my food may have too much salt. I am not a person who usually uses salt in general, but here lately I want it in my food and my 6yr old has complained there is too much salt as well as my husband telling me there is too much salt. (My family usually doesn't use salt...so the little salt I added my seem like to much vs it may really have a lot more salt than I think, I'm not sure which)

Could I be lacking something for me not to notice the salt? Or my body needing the salt? Or needing something that the salt is substituting?
I know salt isn't the best for anyone's diet....

My husband and I aren't finding out. I'm 21+4 and I've had two daughters. This pregnancy is so different than the either of their pregnancies. With them I didn't really crave salt or anything salty, I wanted salads and fresh fruit, drank tons and tons of water. With this one I want nothing sweet. And not really wanting salads or anything like that either, my main cravings have been pickles, pickle juice, pineapple juice, blacked peas, rice and beans, and gatorade.  When I Cook anything I find myself adding salt...and when I do eat a salad--I add salt. And have been eating a lot of soups with saltine crackers.

I will def right this down and take it with me to ask my doc when I see him on Oct. 2

You Are Lacking Electrolytes...Drink some Pedialite. Or bottles water that says it has electrolytes in it.
Also be careful with the salt because it can cause swealling, it'll make you retain water and your feet and hands will start to swell...Also it can cause high blood pressure and that's dangerous for both you and the baby, and it can cause migraines.  I had some horrible migraines.

I've read that in pregnancy, women need to retain more water than normal and craving salt is your body's way of helping that process along. In early pregnancy it can be due to progesterone levels or morning sickness as your body's way of replacing sodium levels. I think as long as your Dr doesn't tell you to avoid salt, you shouldn't deprive yourself. Just in moderation.

I'm also craving salt on things I wouldn't normally bother. And i never added salt to cooking pre-pregnancy so I'm curious if the gender theory will be correct with me... :)

With my first pregnancy I craved lots of salt I myself is not a salt user. Well even now with this pregnancy. Wanted lots of salt.I was told I had to cut down. Due to preeclampsia. I had a girl by the way.  I just read somewhere it's a pregnancy craving. And something else I can't remember

I am exactly the same way my taste buds are of and I crave salt on things and I never used salt either. But I just assumed it was another pregnancy symptom. I would also like to hear what other ladies think about this.
