A little graphic but need advice...

Ok so I have an aunt go in for shoulder surgery on Monday. I live about three hours away from her so I came up to stay with her for a week to do housework, make meals, bring her ice packs, laundry, take care of her elderly shitzu doggie. Now here's my problem, this doggie is a total a hole! He barks and bites me throughout the day, and wakes me up 3-4 times a night wanting to go outside. I'm 21 weeks along. Then he decides to throw up all over the rug and when I tried to keep him from.. Er.. Reingesting the sick he bites me with his icky mouth on my hand. Broke the skin a little bit. Should I be worried about infection from the bite from his dirty doggie mouth? I cleaned it pretty well and my aunt is still not back from the hospital. Is it safe to be around a mean dog like this while  pregnant and if I get bit is my baby at risk?

If it's not a serious bite then I wouldn't worry about it. Just clean it with saline and peroxide then some polysporin. If it gets inflamed then it's not good. I've had many dog bites from big dogs. The pup sounds stressed just try spending some time with it to help it get really used to you and help it relax. It can sense if you're not liking him or uneasy around him.

I'm sure you washed your hand right away which likely washed away antigens..hm..just keep an eye out for infection, swelling, redness, fever, green discharge. Use triple antibiotic and call the doc.

I'd call and ask your doctor. I wouldn't tolerate or be able to handle being around a dog like that. Sounds like it's being extra territorial. I don't know how to handle a dog like that..you can't really put it in a kennel because it'll bark nonstop. Is there someone that knows the dog that can watch it for awhile?

I would be concerned about infection whenever any animal bites.  Put him in a kennel if there is one or lock him in the bathroom.  Idk, but I wouldn't want to be around a mean dog.  I've been bitten by a dog before, not while I was pregnant, but did get stitches and a tetanus shot.  stay away as much as u can and do the absolutely minimum for him...
