Breast feeding

So my hubby would like for me to exclusively breast feed with our child and mentioned to today about looking into breast pumps. Since I formula fed before I would just like some insight on breast feeding and also a good pump for a first timer.

Check with your insurance before purchasing a pump. Most will cover it now a days but they might have guidelines on how or where to buy and what to buy. My insurance for instance will pay for a breastpump but I have to go through them for it. I can't go out and pick whatever i want and buy it and then get reimbursed but some do allow you to do it that way.

Medela advanced in-style electric pump. And it's awesome to have a husband rooting for breastfeeding! Great support! I do suggest taking classes and reading as much as possible! Watch videos on YouTube and join as many support groups as possible. Look into a lactation consultant as soon as your little girl is born. And please take note do not give a bottle or paci until 4 weeks so that you know breastfeeding has been established. Bottles and pacis are known to cause nipple confusion. No not all babies but there are those few such as my little one. Take advice from those only with experience of exclusively breastfeeding. There are many doctors and nurses that have no clue about breastfeeding and will give bad advice. If you have questions ask a former breastfeeding mom or go to kellymom.  Com it is a great site with reliable resources. Also look into your local la leche league for advice and WIC office. If you and when you decide to pump and give a bottle watch videos on how to bottle feed the breastfed baby. I have so much advice and can answer about anything you need to know. I breastfed my little one for 20 months. We had a major bump in the road in the beginning but with the help of a lactation consultant and reading researching we made it through. If breastfeeding is something you want to do. You can!

I use the Medea pump in style advanced, it's super easy to use! And it's in a nice tote that makes it eat to travel to work with, you can't even tell what it is :)

I breast fed my first two and plan on trying with this one as well. My first was tough. She would not latch on for anything, so I pumped and bottle fed. But I only had a manual pump at the time and it was horrible. It took forever and I got mastitis and engorgement. My second was much better. She latched on and nursed like a champ. I had a medulla hospital grade electric pump and  it was a lifesaver. Especially since I worked. It was a double, so I could pump in no time. And it had different setting for light to hard sucking. If money is not the concern, get a medulla electric double pump. It will be well worth the money. Also check with your insurance, you may be able to get a free pump rental, I checked and get one pet pregnancy. Some insurances don't provide one and some only if it is medically necessary. But it is worth looking into. As for nursing, get some good nursing bras, pads, nipple ointment, and a cover for when you have to burse in public. Good luck!

I will be working but will be spending at least 4-6 weeks at home(anything longer and I'll lose my mind) I already thought that I would need an electric and price isn't that big of an issue. Just want the best and not sure if I should do single or double pump???

I'm actually excited to try it especially since I hear it helps with weight lost and bonding mommy and baby more.

Now will u be working? As far as breast pumps it depends on how much freedom u want.  They make manual pumps that u pump w/ ur hands. I used that with my 1st bcuz I was home with her & did very little
Pumping. If u will be away definitely invest in a electric pump.u can pump 4 days or weeks  & just put the baby on ur breast when ur around.

I don't have a problem with it but this is our first together and his other three were all just breast fed so I'm willing to try(marriage is about compromise right lol) We have discussed if its too hard to switch to formula but I want to at least try for myself and our baby.

I plan on doing it , but its my wish, even tho i would feel like a milk machine, im getting mentally prepared  :))
