Caffeine

I'm addicted and I know it's a no no and that decaf would be just the same but I'm having a hard time turning down my chai tea lattes from Starbucks and my coffe first thing in the morning. I'm not really a soda drinker at all so that's the only source of caffeine that I'm getting except for the occasional dark chocolates that I love. I guess this isn't really a question. Just looking for some good ol fashion shaming *ahem*...... Encouragement.... to give it up. I'm feeling a bit guilty. This is my second so I'm not quite as crazy with my pregnancy rules as I was the first one.

I went from 10-15 cups a day to about 4 a day ay first. Now my max is two cups. If im really hurting for energy I might have about 1/3 of a can of monster or 1 mountain dew. Those days I skip my coffee and other sodas though.

I dont drink soda or tea, i have a cup of coffee every morning and my co-workers are always on me about it everyday. I have to explain every day that my Dr. Said one cup was fine and i still have ppl who disagree with me.

An 8oz cup of coffee has about 95mg of caffeine. A can of of Coke has about 46mg of caffeine. My doctor says as long as you don't go over 200mg a day, you're in the safe range. I'm sure if you go over every now & then, it'll be fine. My doctor says to try & keep a running tab in your head of all the caffeine, so you don't go too far over 200 mg.

I don't drink soda and have strong feelings that it is very unhealthy for anyone and really a pregnant woman (developing baby). If it can easily dissolve raw meat you should not be ingesting it. lol.

The only caffine I get is coffee so I feel pretty sure it will be fine. I know people that drink lots of soda and chocolate so they got more caffine than me. I think as long as you limit the amount of total intake it should not matter where it comes from.

btw. I think it's much worse to stress your body by completely quitting caffeine all of the sudden..but hey maybe that's just me and my European way of thinking. :)

I don't know how much caffeine you guys are getting..but one or two coffees a day are ok. I lived in Italy and never realized they take their coffee drinking as a problem while pregnant...and they do drink coffee. ;)

I drink a cup of coffee in the morning & sometimes a can of soda in the afternoon... & maybe a piece of chocolate or two. I don't think it's horrible.  I know you can have some caffeine every day. I have 2 young kids at home & my thyroid levels are really low making me tired all the time.  I think a little caffeine is better than falling asleep while my kids are awake.

Im in the same boat :/ If I don't drink 3-4 cans of soda a day I get horrible headache's. If I don't have a soda with in a few hours of getting out of bed I'll get dizzy and have a headache for the rest of the day. I try so hard but with a toddler having a headache all day everyday it just as bad. Im having a very hard time with it :(
