Cervix shortened anyone???

Went in for my 25 week appointment yesterday. They checked my cervix and it's shorter than what it should be. My doctor said it should be 3 cm I'm at 2.44cm. I'm taking the progesterone shots and now have to be on mild bed rest. Anyone else have this issue? How far did you get on your pregnancy?  Hoping not to go into early labor.

I had 2 vaginal cercloges placed b4 and they both failed...first one I gave birth at 23 weeks..and my son past a more month later and then I miscarried at 19 weeks..so now I have an abdominal cercloge placed and its working perfectly fine. I'm now 36 weeks with my baby girl. And BTW I was never placed on any bed rest with none of my cercloges

Kitalley yes 32 weeks would be great! You're almost there. I'm hoping for 10 more weeks which seem eternal!

Shalanda88 34 weeks seem like forever! But yes I've also heard of many women make it to full term. I'm sure with bed rest your baby will be fine. Good thing is you don't have any other children that makes it a little harder to be on bed rest or be on hospital rest.

I am also considered high risk and I had to have a cerclage put in at 21 weeks. I had to go back to a specialist every week for an internal ultrasound. My cervix was shortened measuring at to Two cm. They called it an incompetent cervix. I am currently at a 1. 3 but I am holding steady at 35 weeks. I will have my cerclage taken out next week.

I'm 27w5d. I'm also high risk.  I've been on progesterone since 17 weeks and had a preventative cerclage placed at 13 weeks. I get transvaginal ultrasounds every 3 weeks. I used to measure at least 3cm. Last week I only measured 1.6cm. I'm now on strict bedrest at home.  I go back for a remeasure next week. If I've lost anymore length, my OB is going to put me on hospital bed rest. I'm hoping to make it to 34 weeks too to get the cerclage removed. Honestly,  even 32 weeks would be Heaven sent!

Hey I have a short cervix that's under 1cm. I'm only 24 weeks so the hospital is keeping me on strict bed rest. They also did an internal ultrasound because they couldn't find my cervix with the regular one. Thank God I haven't gone iinto labor yet. I had some spotting a few days ago but it stopped. My baby boy is doing well and I just pray that I at least make it to 34 weeks. I've taken the steroid shot and I'm on pergestorone. I'm a ftm so it's kinda hard to go through this but I heard of some women that had full term babies with extreme short cervix. Good luck to you!

Oh my goodness I'm glad your sister and baby were ok. Thankfully I haven't had any contractions or signs of labor. They are going to check my cervix again next week and see what happens. So far I'm just on mild bed rest but I have a 3 year old so it's impossible to lay in bed all day

My sister had a really shortened cervix. I dont know they number.  It was discovered when she started going into labour at about 22 weeks.  They were able to stop labour but she was put on strict bed rest. She was only allowed to shower quickly and to go to the washroom. No preparing meals.  She ended up not being good at bed rest and they hospitalized her for over 2 months.  She went in to labour 2 more times and they stopped it.  She was given steriod shots to make sure babys lungs were strong enough.  She was let out of hospital at 36 weeks i think and they expected she wouldnt make it make home before she went into labour on her own. She made it a week and had a healthy little girl. It may be a more difficult pregnancy with a shortened cervix but baby should be good! Best of luck!

I am also high risk they do a transvaginal  ultrasound  every 2 weeks to make sure my cervix stays long and closed as I am carrying almost double  the amount of fluid as I should be and I just turned 30 weeks

Thanks mamaash71707. Just the thought of being high risk is enough to make me worry. I'll be praying for your baby too.

I am also considered high risk. I have yet to have an internal exam. But I know every doctor and pregnancy is different. I wouldn't worry about it. It would be more concerning if you were dialated this early. I will keep you in my prayers. Worrying won't help anything. God Bless you and your little one

Why did they do an internal exam? I'm 27 weeks and they aren't even considering going inside until I get closer to due date
