Circumcise???

I am having a boy and getting him circumsiced to be safe & clean.. what are your thoughts? Are any of you against doing that? My midwife said to come back in a week or 2 after baby is born to do it.. I heard some people say they can do it in hospital when the baby is born. I wouldn't want to take my baby home and bring him back through pain.  What would u do?

My opinion is to do it at the hospital before you bring him home. The sooner the better. He won't remember and will heal quickly. Good luck!

My son got circumcised. His hospital didn't offer it so we had to take him to a clinic. He really didn't cry much afterwards and we made sure everything was kept clean.

They don't cut the skin anymore.. at least here they don't. They put a bell around the tip and pull the foreskin over the lip of the bell. Then they put a rubberband around it. It's the same as docking tails on pups. There is no pain and there's a hole in the bell so the baby can still pee and everything. So the skin basically dies and falls off due to lack of blood flow and the baby doesn't know the difference.  Ask your doc if they use the bell. I think it's better bc there's no pain but even if they didn't use the bell I'd still get it done. Being a medic I've seen some pretty knarly manhood gone wrong bits on boys so I'd do it for sanitary reasons. Some people have no problems keeping it clean but more do than not.

It is fine to do it at the hospital right away if the baby is healthy. That is how most of my family did it, we are Jewish - so we do it. A few people had it done by a Moiel at a bris

I think its unnessecary I believe its something you're born with and every guy I've been with has been uncircumcised I don't see the issue. My son isn't and if this one is a boy he won't be either. I mean you can live without your appendix but they don't ask if you want to take that from your baby too

Why would you not want to get your son circumcised to begin with? That prepuce does not need to be there. Alot of men are prone to infections with that prepuce being. Not only that, but the penis tends to grab an odor as they get older. I would recommend you get him circumcised. In the end, you're only doing the right thing.

I'm having my son circumsized. His father is and I think there will be less questions as to why they look so different.  I don't think doing it is better. I think you should ask your baby's daddy on the matter. Or research my brother isn't and my mom had no problems with hygiene my brother takes a shower every day and takes care of himself so it's also something that if you don't do you need to make sure your son knows the importance of hygiene.  But either way it doesn't matter. It's your baby.

My aunt did not get her circumsiced and he had so many problems with it that he had to get it done when he was seven he is 13 now an still remembers how bad it hurt!!! It really is unsanitary and I could not imagine waiting and them having to get it done at a later age. If you decide before the baby is born I would just do it when you guys are there!!!! The only down fall with doing it is it hurts to get pee on it  for the first two days bit the Vasaline really helps keep it coated and it is not that bad!!!!

I have a friend whose son was circumcised at birth and it was messed up/done incorrectly. They ended up removing all of his external genitals and had to reconstruct the urinary tract. Her son is living as a female and they have challenges every day. While that is an awful thing I think your best bet is to research and understand what it will really take if he was not circumcised, etc. My husband and I have determined that no physical alterations will be performed on any of our children unless absolutely necessary for their survival and or ease of daily function.

After 3 daughters,  I'm having a son.  After discussing it with my husband,  we are going to have him circumcised.  I don't want him in pain though.  That's my only fear for him.

I had both my boys circumcised at the hospital and I plan on doing this one as well. I heard the sooner you do it the better because it's less painful and heals faster. I agree with you it is cleaner and safer for boys to be circumcised.

In other countries its rare to get circumcised, but both of my sons are circumcised. Its not really hard to keep clean it just will have to pull the skin back.

I had my son done in the hospital. The doctor decided to do it then because his foreskin grew together. My husband had the same thing happen to him when he was 9 years old.

My first I did get him circumcised but my second I did not. I think its a cosmetic surgery and because my youngest had so many issues being born at 30 weeks premature I didn't want add anything unnecessary. So now with my third I won't do it either.

Research both sides of the topic thoroughly. All you have to do is a web search. Write down any questions you have and make an informed decision then. I chose not to for my boys. Cleanliness isn't a problem at all. It comes down to a personal decision, but like I suggested make sure you look at both arguments for and against it so you can stand by your decision :)
