Didn't have full bladder for ultrasound

A few days ago I went for a follow up ultrasound at 22 weeks because I have two bleeds behind my placenta. I didn't know I needed to have a full bladder and I guess I've just happened to have one at the times of my other ultrasounds. My OB called to tell me that they didn't see the bleeds behind the placenta in the pictures...I'm just worried. Is there a chance they couldn't get pictures of the bleeds because I didn't have a full bladder?

It will be fine at my 20 week scan they asked me to go to the loo half way through as my full bladder was actually making the exam harder for them. I also have had emergency scans where I had no time to get full bladder so I don't think it's massively important :)

I just went to the ER for bleeding & was diagnosed with the same thing. I'm 14 weeks with twins. My bladder was not full either (the ultrasound tech was waiting for me when I returned from a bathroom trip) but she was still able to see it. I saw my doctor in her office Tuesday & she said if they are small enough then your body will reabsorb them & discharge what is left. This may be why they no longer see them in the ultrasound (just a thought). Good luck to you.

I feel so bad for those of you who have to have a full bladder. I have never had to have a full bladder for mine. They always have me do my urine test before I go in for mine.

It's better to have a full bladder because it pushes your uterus closer to your belly so they can see clearer. Same effect as a vaginal us as opposed to a stomach one.

All of appointment papers says to drink 32 oz before every ultrasound. I can't even fit 32 oz in my stomach, how silly of them! I'm 33 weeks. At my 22/23 weeks ultrasound, the tech actually told me to go and use the bathroom because my bladder was just going to get in the way. I almost cried because I'd drank as much Sprite as I could and spent an hour being Mrs. Steel Bladder, all for naught.

Yeah they look around for a good while, I'm sure if she saw anything she would've told you. You are probably fine!!!

My doctor described them as blood clots between the placenta and uterus that could cause problems if they grew. I told the ultrasound tech that I didn't have a full bladder and she had me drink 2 cups of water. During the ultrasound she did tell me that my bladder was starting to fill.

When i go to my ultra soundssounds I have to drink four glasses of water. I would let your doctor know that your bladder wasn't completely full just to be on the safe side so then hopefully they can get you another us

During my last pregnancy, which was 9 months ago. They told me I only need to drink one cup of watee before the ultrasound. Some times the would have me pee mid session and then they would finish the session.  I guess its all pending what they need.
