External Cephalic Version (ECV)

I'm currently 34 weeks along and my baby girl is being stubborn and hasn't turned....basically is breech. I'll have another Ultrasound at 36 weeks to see if she's turned. If she's still breech, my OB said an option was to perform a ECV which is done at the hospital and where my OB will push on my stomach to try and move her out of the breech position. It has a 50% chance of working. There are risks involved that concern me. One being if the baby doesn't take this procedure well and her heart rate drops, which would cause an emergency C-section, which by OB said that she's had to do a few times. Another concern is that my baby's umbilical cord could wrap around her neck. I really want a natural birth, but at the same time I don't think I'd want to chance an emergency C-section, I'd rather plan it if I HAVE to get one. So my question to you ladies is what you'd do if you were in my predicament or if you've heard of this procedure or have been through it or know anyone who has. Thanks! :)

I was in your EXACT situation. My baby girl was breech dr wanted to do a ecv but i decided it was too risky and ended up scheduling a csection. A planned csection is a lot better than a emergency one that early at 36 weeks. My dr said 9 times out of ten they ended in emergency csection anyways

My friend had this done with her third daughter. She said it hurt alot! Her baby turned and delivered natural. However you also run the risk of going through the evc and your baby turns breech again. The don't always stay.

I'd just go for a c section it's really not a big deal I had a c section I was in k about 4 days before they decided to just do a c section after the c section I was up and walking 10 hours after I kept the hospital 4 days later and was walking shopping at walmart. Now everyone is different but I'm so glad I didn't push my baby out down there lol good lord she would have tore me all the way. The c section was so so easy for me

If your baby is still breech by then you'll probably have to have a c section anyway. So I'd take the ecv and hope for a natural birth.

Please don't start worrying right now. You have 6 weeks til your daughter can turn :) my sister went thru with this and was successful but the umbilical wrapped around his neck towards the end. He was still fine though.
