My dr is pressuring for the flu shot, he basically told me it is no longer a live virus, it prevents downs syndrome, and if I dont get it and I get pneumonia  my baby will have mental problems and or downs.....i feel this may be a scare to get the stupid shot

I got my flu shot 2 days ago, and I feel fine. My doctor recommended it. I think the benefits outweigh the consequences, so I got it. It's really up to you and how you feel about it.

she didn't say dr said it caused pneumonia, she said if she didn't get the shot and she ended up with pneumonia her baby could have mental issues or downs. but i say do what you want my dr gave me the option but couldn't get it while sick last time so i'll be getting mine on tuesday bc i did get sick with the flu when i was pregnant with my daughter and it was pretty rough that's for sure. it's your call and the dr doesn't need to scare you into getting it

I agree with finding a new doc. Any doc that is going to lie to you and try scaring you into getting a simple flu shot is craziness.
The flu would only hurt your baby really if you had way high of a fever or if you got majorly dehydrated!

First he tells you it prevents down syndrome, then he tells you pneumonia causes it! You have a quack doctor who is liable to many lawsuits just from his statements, Lord knows how he actually treats his patients. God help his patients!! Find a new doc ASAP, for the health of your baby!!!!!! Too many wacky doctors push patients into the flu shot, and too many babies die interutero from it! Research it. Don't poison yourself or your unborn baby. :-)

It sounds like it.  My doctor asked, I have never gotten one so am not going to start now, but I have also never gotten the flu (the real flu).  She did say it can be life threatening to the baby if I got it, then said but it can be life threatening to you too.  I have never heard anything about it preventing any other diseases, I suppose if you actually got it and the baby got sick it could have some kind of adverse affect, but I have never had a doc say it can cause this or that if you don't.

I was fine having mine, no reaction to it at all. I said i didnt know whether i wanted it or not at first cos i never get ill... then with in 2 weeks i had a cold and a sickness bug (the most illnesses ive had in about 10 years!) So i went back and said yes please give me the shot!! My bf had flu last year and ended up in hospital n i didnt want that while being pregnant
