Folic acid,DHA,Pyridoxine and Mecobalmin

Question

This question is regarding the drug use during the pregnancy.What is the use of DHA during the pregnancy?. Our doctor prescribed the combination of folic acid,Pyridoxine and mecobalmin combination. But the pharmacy person gave me the following combination Folic acid,DHA,Pyridoxine and Mecobalmin. I came to know these after I reached to home. I couldn't contact my doctor and we don't want stop medication also.What should I do? Shall we continue the medication which was dispensed by pharmacist.Will it harm or safe? Looking for your reply.

DHA is in fish oil, and it's for baby's brain development. Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply). It is perfectly safe and even encouraged to help baby grow healthy. I take fish oil capsules on the side, in addition to my prenatal vitamin.

Yes dha are essential fatty acids. I should add as a training nutritionist that if you are already taking dha to be careful not to overdose with taking fish oil supplements too as these are high in vitamin A.  Vitamin A should not be taken over the daily allowance normally and especially not in pregnancy as can cause harm. Check the amount of vitamin A is in the fish oils with your daily recommend allowance..and remember that you may be also having vitamin A in foods. Goodluck

It looks like your doc thinks you're deficient in b-12, looking at the mecobalamin script. Pyridoxine is b-6, which is good for morning sickness. The other two are good for neural development. They help the spinal cord form correctly.

Well my prenatal vitamins have the dha in it as well.It is ssuppose to help with the brain development. If u can't call the doc can u call the pharmacy? They know enough about the meds that they should be able 2 answer why it was filled that way & side effects.
