Glass of wine.

Has anyone drank a glass of wine while pregnant? We went out on date night and I wanted a glass of red wine with my steak and opted out then I was reading that in Europe and South America it's very common and accepting of having a few glasses of wine a week.. I just want to hear everyone's input on it.

I want a glass so bad, but I couldn't handle if something turned out wrong with my baby wondering if that glass of wine was the cause of it.

I heard it's okay. I would never do it, though. I'll also be pregnant when I celebrate my 30th in 2 weeks, but I'll celebrate and let others drink my share. :)

Personally, I would never risk it. My husband worked with adult individuals with fetal alcohol syndrome and it was no fault except the mother's that they suffer like they do. There is no way of knowing how much alcohol it takes to cause problems. I can handle not having it for the time I'm pregnant to know I'm not risking my child's health. No offense to anyone that chooses to, just my opinion and belief.

I went to Ireland with my hubby when I was 6 months. When he ordered a beer, I had a few sips. I know healthy responsible moms who drink occasionally throughout their pregnancy. I am not a big drinker, so a few sips of beer in 9 months is notfar from the norm for me. I also had a few drinks during the weeks before I knew I was pregnant. Not the end of the world.

My friend's an RN and she drank wine and champagne at her baby shower and her kid is two now and amazing:)
Best friend had her first two while stationed in Germany and her Dr said a glass a day was fine.
I have had wine occasionally too and my Dr said its ok just not to drink in the first 12 weeks and obviously not get carried away.

When I was pregnant with my first, I really wanted a glass of wine with dinner on my birthday. I asked my Dr about it and he told go for it. I was 8 months at the time and he told me it was ok. I'll be pregnant on my 30th birthday and 7 months and I plan on having a glass of wine again.
