Mayo on hair and the live comb .. thats what my parents did for me when I was a kid
I had trouble with my step daughter bringing it over to my girls. I tried everything! Finally after searching the web I found a solution that worked great! You soak your head in listerine mouth wash, generic is fine. Put on a shower cap leave on 2 hrs. Afterwards use lice comb. Then use a straight iron on hair daily from root to tip daily. The heat will kill any remaining nits.
At the comment above about Black ppl not gettin them because we dont wash our hair as often has nothing to do with what the lady posted about.. Everybody is different so ur comment was not neccessary AT ALL!! If u dnt have anything nice to say dnt say it all.
My daughter got it all last yr from school. At wal mart there was this shampoo that came with a stick. Also coconut shampoo helped also. Keep mouse and hair spray in both heads. Put all stuffed animals n pillows in a trash bag for 48-72hr and wash everything in hot water. Hope you can get it taking care of. It's a bi**h to deal with.
You have to make sure you get everything clean after the first shampooing. Follow the instructions and repeat in the amount of days it instructs (each brand is a little different) its VERY important that you repeat other wise you will never get rid if them. After the second shampooing you need to clean everything again. And personally I always repeat a third time and clean a third time.
Make sure you use that annoying little come correctly and throughly. If her hair is very long cut it shorter it will help. If you want it cut at a salon call and explain the situation first some will allow her in some will not.
Im advice comes from years as being a licensed hair dresser.
I don't know about ur are but in my city they have ppl that come over and pick all the nits out of ur hair.
Tea tree oil ... add it to your shampoo
As a nurse I can tell you like just like hair- clean or not as frequently washed. I have really kinky, thick curly hair that I maybe wash twice a week and I got it. I literally have been dealing with this for a month with me daughter getting it three times followed by me getting it. You must wash all bedding, towels, stuffed animals andrecently worn clothes in hot water water. Boil all hair ties and brushes. We used the RID shampoo twice but probably missed an egg or two. We then went with an all natural solution- one part grape seed oil mixed with two parts tea tree shampoo. Put on dry hair and work into a lather. Then put a shower cap on and leave in place for two hours. Rinse and apply small amount of tea tree conditioner to make combing easier. Then section off hair and go through in bright light with a metal nit comb to remove the nits. We've since been shampooing when tea tree shampoo as a preventive. You also have to commit to combing through daily for about ten days to ensure there are no more nits. It's a HUGE pain in the ***. I actually cut my hair to make it easier to go through. So far so good. I went through this morning and didn't see anything. Sorry you're going through this. There is a prescription treatment called Spinosad that also kills the eggs, but it's pricey if you don't have insurance. It is a pregnancy category B, but My doc wouldn't give it to me. Good luck mama!
Lice like clean hair. The reason black ppl don't get them is bc they don't wash their hair as often... lice like the sebum the u produce. I would use hair and scalp oil... I would rather have oily hair then lice.. by the way I am a license cosmetologist
I found soaking head in apple cider vinegar for a couple hours then cocunut oil kills, smoothers, and makes them easier to comb out.
This ***** so bad. I can't believe I have to deal with this five days before my son is here. :(
From the time they lay the eggs to the time they die is 33-37 days. They will breed rapidly. Make sure you go right from the scalp as that's where they lay their eggs.
Most of the head lice treatment doesn't work anymore they have become immune to it. Get thick conditioner part the hair in small sections and go through it with a head lice and nit comb every two days. I did it to my boyfriends cousins hair and she is now free of them. It takes hours but it does work.
