Help!Bleeding, hcg doubling but nothing on ultrasound. Ectopic?

Im freaking out and really need some help finding out what is happening to me: I have been pregnant 3 times in my life.
The first: when I lost my  virginity at age 15, there were complications during the abortion. Forward six years later, diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy after a condom breaking and had to get surgery. Forward another Ten years later: My husband and I have been trying for over a year to become pregnant and were starting to lose hope, then June six being a day late a took a test and I got a +. Miracle!
Had blood drawn  on June 18, had a HCG of 166, then June 20 my doctor called me telling me my HCG was now a 175 and to expect having a miscarriage any second. I bawled my eyes out and as predicted started spotting brown minutes later then eventually as the day progressed had very painful period like cramps and bleeding. That lasted three days.  Then I felt fine (physically) no longer experiencing any pregnancy side effects and went back to work. On the 29th of June I started having HORRIBLE cramps literally bended in two crying and started bleeding again. I went to the emergency room thinking I might had have an incomplete mc.  The cramps subsided by the time I got there but went in anyway. They told me the first periods after a mc was particularly painful but not to be Overly concerned about it, they decided to draw blood anyway.  Result of an HCG of 1040!
I went it on July the 2 HCG of 1780, then this morning  July 4th an HCG of 2500.  I wasn't scheduled for an u/s for another week but after expressing my concerns for the fact the I have been bleeding heavily for 3 weeks he decided to do it. First a normal ultrasound, nothing. Then an "endovaginal" ultrasound, still nothing, no sac, no fetus, nothing in tha Fallopian tubes, no hemorrhage.. Nothing.  He told me there should definitely be something there at 2500 HCG and that it was most likely an ectopic pregnancy and that I needed to be in surgery for a laparoscopy today. I objected since aside from the bleeding I do not have any of the symptoms of my previous e/p and begged him to give me a few more days. He scheduled me in for Sunday (two days from now) for another HCG and u/s and told me not to eat so I can get the surgery.
Has anyone been through something like that? What was the outcome? What should I do?

I had 2 ectopics this past year. The first my numbers were not rising properly and they told me to expect a miscarriage. I started bleeding and then stopped but started again a few days later and had severe pain (just like you). Dr sent me to the hospital and they did an ultrasound, at first couldn't see anything anywhere then the radiologist noticed a small spot at the edge of my fallopian tube and diagnosed it as ectopic. Dr took me into surgery and sure enough the tissue was fetal tissue. 5 months later I found out I was pregnant again. Again my numbers were not rising...at first, but then they started to (like yours). Dr did an ultrasound and couldn't see anything. I wasn't having any bleeding but was having major cramping. Dr sent me back to the hospital again for another ultrasound. It took awhile again but they eventually found it again in my tubes. I went into surgery immediately again and this time had the tube removed. A month later I was pregnant again! So far this one everything is going great! I would say to take your Dr's advice. If it is in a tube or something and it keeps growing it can cause your tube to rupture and cause more problems. There is also the option of methotrexate (not sure on the spelling) instead of surgery. Good luck, I'm praying for you!
