How much baby movement is normal at 31 weeks?

I'm 31 weeks and I feel like my baby is constantly  moving and not slowing down.

How much movement is normal at this time?  I can feel her move from one side of my stomach to the other, and you can see my entire stomach shift as she moves...  it's crazy.

I was told that once she drops movement slows down, is that true, and if so, when do they usually drop?

Thanks.

phew! am I glad that I am not the only one and I am not being overly "worried". I promise you the only time he settles down is when I get to sleep (which isnt much lately coz I am getting restless). I love the movements but they seem to be a lot more harder kicks than before and I can literally watch him move from one end to the other. And funny thing is, I think he loves attention. The minute I stroke him on my belly he gets even more active. I hope he will be settled when he finally arrives (hopefully as predicted, on the 24th December).

Hi I'm 31w too and this baby moves constantly.  He's lying very low and just moves nonstop. I certaintly hope he sleeps when he gets here.  I've noticed his movements have changed in the last week from kicking and poking to more squirming--he's obviously running out of room.  I'm sure everything is fine. Good Luck and enjoy  these last few weeks!!

Hi i'm 35 weeks and my son has not slowed down at all and to be honest at this stage, with him being so big, watching him moving from one side of my stomach to the other really freaks me out.  Its getting uncomfortable too.  I know they are supposed to slow down later in pregnancy but i think mine is going for some kind of a record lol :)

I think lots of movement is great.  I was told that the movement should not slow down much but rather, change a little. Instead of swift kicks, they are getting to big and so you'll be more likely to feel tumbles or them rolling around instead of lots of kicks. Remember, things are getting pretty tight in there and so, the movements will change but, they still should be active. I'm 36 weeks and I still see my stomach do the wave.

A lot of movement is a wonderful sign that your baby is getting enough blood flow and is healthy. They should not slow down when they go further into the birth canal. They often have more stretches and pushes, but if there is a drastic slow down a trip to the hospital is necessary. (I believe if there is less than 5 movements and hour-someone else may be able to help you out with that one) The reason is that they can press a body part on the cord and compromise the blood flow-not good. Anyhow, enjoy the activity going on inside of you, you'll miss it after delivery!
