Is it possible?

Today I was checked for progress at 37 weeks 3 days. The Dr. told me she was no where near coming any time soon, and that the closer we got to 40 weeks the more we should prepare for a c-section as she is on the larger side. But I swear in the last hour I have had contractions!? Is this possible? Or am I just freaking myself out? My belly has gotten tighter and I feel like a shooting/stinging pain in my vaginal area for around a minute or so. I just want to know if I should even monitor it?

Its possible yes but is say  unless they are consistent and somewhat painful they are probably BH. my water broke at 37 weeks 5 days the first time with no contractions before hand ,only BH but I think my due date was,off because my daughter was 9.10 when born! You can also start contractions at zero. And of course there are some woman who have long labors and have sporadic contractions for several days before actually going into labor. Time them out and see if they are consistent.

we do actually know the exact conception date, because we were inseminated. I guess i was just more curious if it was possible to be having contractions since they told us today she was not coming anytime soon.

Having checks done this early really can't/won't tell when your going to deliver. You can be 3 cm for weeks and not go into labor. Or you can go from zero to baby in a day. Please, keep in mind, unless you know exact conception date your due date can be of by 2 weeks. The contractions your probably feeling now are Braxton Hicks. They aren't really ones they are just prepping your body. Mine started at 35 weeks and carried on until I delivered. Real ones will hurt and be more consistent. Youalso don't HAVE to be induced once you hit 40 weeks. I know we all want to meet our babies but let your body do its thing.  :-)
