Is progesterone safe?

Hi,
I'm 4 weeks pregnant. I had a miscarriage before 6 months, doctors couldn't find any reasons. All my tests were normal. This time doctors want to be extra cautious and they have prescribed me vaginal progesterone 200 mg. I'm little worried about the dosage. Isn't that on little higher side? Doctor also wants me to go for progesterone shots after 16 weeks. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Charlies_Momma2015. You are not rude. I value your opinion. As you might understand I'm little nervous after my loss. I just wanted to listen from others. Thanks again

Thanks ladies. Appreciate your comments on this topic. This definitely helps. I was little nervous about the dosage. Also my doctor has tested my progesterone level but without waiting for results she asked me to start taking vaginal progesterone. So wanted to know others' opinion.

Should I go for any other doctor's opinion? Also can one stop taking progesterone after starting to take?

It's safe. Your body produces this hormone on its own when pregnant. I'm sure if you have a good doctor the dosage is safe and prescribed to fit your needs. As a nurse we mostly know the dosage limitations and I'm sure your doctor knows what's good to take hopefully from their dosage calculations. The number sounds big but it's actually small for milligrams depending on onset and peak times. Stay positive! Praying for your healthy happy baby.
