Jury duty while pregnant

I got my summons for jury duty last week. By the time I have to report I'll be in my 5th month. I did ask for a postponement, which they will grant if I get documentation saying I'm pregnant. I just don't see how sitting for hours and peeing every 15 mins and my nausea can come on at anytime is good for jury duty. Thoughts?

I got a jury duty summons in my 6th month and decided to report because I thought if I postponed it the next summons would be at a worse time. Thankfully I didn't even have to go in - my number was so high that I was excused the morning of the second day of calling in. I would say go for it only to get it over with and be exempt for a little while!

That postponement will likely last about 8 years.

If you're the primary caretaker of a child,  that's an automatic exemption, over the phone,   where I live.

I've served on a jury before. I don't mind it and all I'm asking for is a postponement. Not asking to get out of it completely.

I'm kind of surprised that getting documentation that you're pregnant excuses you from jury duty - but if that's the case,  do what you want.

Jury duty is interesting,  but if you have to pee 4 times an hour and are still vomiting in your second trimester it certainly wouldn't work.

My mother was chosen for jury duty and there is a big elimination process once you get there. (If they don't call to say you don't have to).  I think you will definitely get off, you should get the proof of pregnancy in though because who knows how long some of these cases go for?
