Just 1 glass of wine?!?!

Hello to all of you new and expecting mommy's! I am 16 weeks 5 days pregnant with my second. I know this is a taboo topic and people have varying opinions on having the occasional glass of alcohol during pregnancy but I just want to know how mom's here feel. I would LOVE to enjoy a glass of wine every now and again but I'm a bit scared straight I guess you can call it. Anyone have experience or opinions on this topic?

Like a lot of the posters here, I was also told by my doctor that one glass every now and then was OK, but I didn't do it.  It mattered less to me to have a glass of wine than it mattered to me to have peace of mind.  I never wanted to wonder after the baby was born, if there was a problem, if the wine had done it.  I didn't drink coffee either.  Didn't particularly miss either thing.

A close friend of mine would get her husband to fill a shot glass for her with wine and she sips it for an entire night. Her son came out adorable and healthy as you could want. She is pregnant again and doing the same thing!

I'm 35 weeks & I've had probably 3 full glasses my whole pregnancy.  I literally have a quarter of a glass topped with ice & soda about once a month. It's a nice little treat & so little it won't do bub any harm. My doctor agrees this is completely fine.

I'm glad you brought this up. I too like to enjoy wine, but I'm currently 9 weeks and afraid to even look at a bottle! lol
I'm a worrier myself, I may just stick the rest of these 7 months out, although I've heard a glass of red wine is ok.

I had a doctor friend tell that an occasional glass was fine. But I still don't partake. I'd rather err on the side of caution and abstain.

I personally wouldn't drink while pregnant. But in my country red wine or a pint of Guinness is perfectly "normal" for a pregnant woman-  the old people will tell you its good for your blood and puts curls on your baby.
Like nobody would look at you funny for drinking red wine or Guinness.

I had pain in my first pregnancy and my nannie (my mothers mother.) Tried to get me to drink a sup of hot whiskey.... thats a bit too much now really!
But I personally wouldn't but that's my choice.

I have a little sip every now and again like once a month and maybe not even that. Has not harmed what so ever baby still moves like mad! As long as its a small glass it won't hurt just don't go mental with it of course haha :)

I'm 6 weeks and this is my first. ...I keep being told that a glass of red wine will not hurt, but I'm a worry wort and can't bring myself to do it.  And that's simply because medical professionals can not determine the level of alcohol that contributes to fetal alcohol syndrome.  So I choose to err on the side of caution on this particular issue.  But I do not judge those who choose to partake in a delicious sip every now and again.

My Dr Told me to have a glass of wine or even 2 but to not drink the whole btl or replace a meal w/ it. He said they tell women not to drink at all b/c there are some women who can't cut it off after a glass or 2. I'm usually a red wine drinker but have had too bad of heart burn for it. So occasionally will have a glass of white to help me relax. If mommy's relaxed, baby's relaxed! I'm 35wks+5 btw
