Labor & Delivery annoys me

Went in tonight because I was extremely uncomfortable, the pain in my back and my abdomen was unbearable, not to mention the cramping. They monitored me, turns out I was having decent contractions too, coming 2-3 minutes apart. Ridiculously, they send me home. No change in an hour of being there, so go home and wait for change..I mean to a point I guess I understand, but still. Contractions that close together for that long and they send you home being close to 4 cm dilated? Ugh, sorry to rant ladies. lol

Oh my, lol. Well as far as the contractions go they have slowed down a bit. They aren't coming as frequent is what it seems. I'm not sure what's going on now lol but hopefully It's close. My Dr appointment is really early in the morning tomorrow and I believe I might have dilated or something more as I had a bit of a bloody show when I woke up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night but nothing since. So if I don't end up going back today at least my doctor can let me know where I stand with changes. And I'm going to make her do the sweep as she said she would lol the ladies have given me the courage to tell her lol. So after that it could be my time anyhow! I truly hope so!

Yay i was wondering if u had gone into labour yet. Hopefully your contractions keep up and u go into.labour naturally. Keep an eye on those contractions tho because u.can go.from 4cm to 10 pretty quick. If u strt feeling pressure down low or.feel like u have to.go.poop id go back in. I went into.labour with my.first and i was already 4cm and from my.first contraction until i gave birth was 6 hrs. And i.was fully dialated about 1.5 before they let me push cuz my.doc had gone home thinking id be hours away. I was not a.happy.camper!

Thanks Flickan! I will keep that in mind. They make me feel like I have no say most of the time because it seems like they make all the major decisions anymore. I'll be definitely telling her to do the sweep Wednesday, and if I end up induced I'll refuse their interference until it becomes absolutely necessary. I just want things as natural as possible and don't want to feel like I'm being rushed because I'm on someone else's time or they expect more money. :/

Just remember you can say no. When I went in the dr on call was trying to push me to use pitocin because it was slow. And I told him no 3 times...told him I stillhad 23 hours, 20 hours, and 19 hours til I hit the 24 hour mark after my water broke.  And make her do the sweep. Even if you were positive for strep b you can get it done...I did, twice!!

Ha yeah so it would seem. I saw a poor lady on here say she went past her due date by two weeks, still no sign of labor and they induced and the doctor at the hospital was very pushy trying to rush her along not even being on pitocin for 20 minutes and they were trying to break her water and expecting contractions every 2 minutes. Then being only on pitocin for an hour they were already talking about c section because she hadn't had cervical change yet. That's ridiculous and I couldn't imagine how they made her feel. :/

From what I have read they say if you go in to the  hospital to soon and are admitted your more likely to have a lot of unnecessary interventions. You know how the hospitals are get it done and over with so they dont have to stay late. Grr drs.

Thanks Shasta! I'll ask her, Hopefully if the time comes that's all they would do to start out, I'd prefer not being rushed through things so quickly like they don't want to waste any time lol.

It also depends on the method of induction. There are methods of inducing labor that don't require medicine. See if they're willing to break your water 1st. A lot of time that is enough to get things moving.

lol I just hope she follows through with what she said for once. :/ I really want her to do it at this appointment, lol if I'm still contracting like this I'm sure after the sweep I'll have results, hopefully lol. Which is what I'm hoping for. I actually really am trying to avoid the induction aspect. I've been trying to go naturally since after my 37 week appointment, and so far nothing of course lol but I want to go naturally, not be induced. I've read horror stories on here of women whose doctor's tried rushing things along too quickly during their inductions, and more than likely caused c-sections. I only want a c-section if it's 100% necessary for baby's health.

Most won't induce until 39 weeks exactly or after. But for a sweep one day generally won't stop them. ;)

I'll definitely remind her, but I'm already worried that she's not going to do it now. At the 36 week appointment she said she'd do the sweep at 38 and induction at 39 (if I didn't go prior) and if I got a negative result on my strep B test, which I did. Well, at 37 weeks walking out to make my next appointment, they scheduled it for this Wednesday (which I'll only be 37 weeks and 5 days (my doctor actually says I'm a day ahead of what my app says, so I'll actually by their view be 37 weeks and 6 days). So I won't quite be 38 weeks, so I feel like because they couldn't fit me in for the day I'd actually be 38 weeks or over she won't do it now. When I told the chick at the counter that when scheduling she said well she'll do it at your appt. after that then....UM NO. lol I'm not waiting for a sweep until a week before my due date, that's when she said she'd induce me so no. lol :( they are stressing me out.

Remind her! Don't let them forget what they said they'd do. I never hesitate to remind them lol.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you understand what I'm dealing with :/

Shasta, you always make me laugh haha. my cervix is annoying me so much anymore, it only dilates when I'd have no idea anything is going on, and doesn't dilate when anything significant is going on! >:( lol I'm still contracting, so maybe it's early labor...again. lol I'd prefer that over false labor, even if it takes forever. I'll be seeing my doctor on Wednesday, so not far along (assuming I make it) lol. My doctor mentioned at my 36 week appointment that she'd do a membrane sweep at my 38 week appointment which is this week. I'm hoping she's still going to do it like she said she would! I'm growing tired of my doctor's office telling me they are going to do things they end up not doing. LOL I'm so full of complaints!

Barbie: I just wish I was dilating faster, It's been almost two weeks since I made any change, I'm hoping it won't be another month before I hit 4 cm. lol

Flickan: I'll definitely be talking to her at my appt. I hope you're right !

Oh honey...that's tough I know. I will say that your dr may be able to help. Tell him about it. They may want to do a nst. Besides that,  I love you but you have a stubborn cervix. Lol ;)
