Medicine while pregnant

I have been really sick the last few days.  I just went in to my 36 week visit and the doctor said I can take Sudafed and the pill (not liquid) version of Nyquil.  My husband things I should bc I have been so sick and throwing up cuz all the mucus.  But I think it is safer for baby if I just push through it.  Other problem is I have a toddler and preschooler and am a SAHM but they are good and also sick so they are letting me rest and I dont feel like itv is making it so I am not looking after them well enough.  Has anyone taken these or would you if your ob said it was perfectly safe?

I take Mucinex when I'm coughing or congested, because I have allergies all year indoor and out, so I prefer something specifically made for mucus.
For my stomach, I eat light and filling food, ie french fries, mashed potatoes, etc. I also have a prescription for Zantac/ranitidine that calls for me to take twice the OTC dose (my stomach really hates me). Maybe get some of the OTC "cool mint" Zantac if you can put up with the menthol feeling? I don't find it very strong but it is noticeable.

When i was sick and took Sudafed i sleep alot because that's the only thing that helps me ever fight off colds, which meant my loving man had to get up to take my son to school and take care of me for two weeks. If not for him i would of still been sick. Good luck

Thanks. Been battling this for 5 weeks. I took everything that was allowed nothing helped. My mistake was letting it go too long. Dr. said two weeks is the cutoff sick that long then time to go in.

I've been battling a sinus thing and I was told Sudafed but nothing more than regular Sudafed (no PE, extended release, etc.)and that if it became a full blown cold (chest congestion, cough, etc.) I could take Tylenol Cold but also just the regular version.
Hope you get to feeling better!

Yes take it don't let it get worse! Went to my doctor yesterday and was told I have walking pneumonia. Now at risk of preterm labor because of it. I am 34 weeks never have been in so much pain from coughing or so sick in my life. 3 rd trimester is bad enough.

I've also been sick lately. Cold, sneezing, and some congestion. I'm taking mucenex, vicks vapor rub and tylenol. My Dr said they are all completely safe.

Oh ok! It makes me feel better knowing someone else has been given the go ahead and has taken it.  Thanks so much for responding! Did Sudafed make it so you couldnt sleep my doctor said it would? I have never taken it before.  She seemed more comfortable with me taking that than nyquil but offered nyquil as a night time solution.

I was sick for a week and it got so bad, finally i sucked it up and got Sudafed pain congestion plus cold. I'll tell you what the first dose i took i could feel an instant release and after a few days i felt so much better. I could tell while i was sick the baby wasn't doing good and when i got better so did she. Good luck and feel better.
