I had one with my first but i was already contracting and 3cm dilated..it got me to 7cm within an hr of having the sweep..however im now expecting baby no4 and had a sweep on thursday afternoon..i was told by my midwife that i am completely thinned out and was already 1cm dilated..she did the sweep and said im now 2cm nearly 3 dilated..after i got some heavy irregular cramping and then nothing!! Gutted:( i honestly thought it would work with been baby no4..been for long walk and tried nipple stimulation last night and that has had no affect either..also my sweep didnt hurt one bit and i didnt lose anything afterwards either

I had one with my son on a Friday, on Sunday evening I was labouring. It just depends on the person. I've known a woman to have it done twice. Have sex and go for a long walk. Clean your whole house, or do something that makes you laugh super hard. As stupid as that sounds laughing can start contractions.
