It is true that it's mostly genetics that determine if you get stretchmarks. But, staying fit and gaining weight at a slow healthy pace will help. Also drink a lot of water. Your skin needs to be hydrated from the inside out. I am prone to stretchmarks. I have them on my hips, thighs, and butter from puberty. I've always been "thin" (5'6 130 lbs), so i thought getting stretchmarks just from growing as a teen I'd definitely get them on my belly during pregnancy. Surprisingly, I didn't. I exercised and gained weight at a slow healthy pace. I also used Bella B Tummy Honey Butter. I'm attributing some of my lack of stretchmarks to this product since I know I get them easily. My sister and mother also have a lot of stretchmarks if that means anything anything bout my genetics. I just found out I'm expecting my second baby and I already ordered the butter, in case it did help before.

Swim, walk, yoga. There is special lotion that you can get at the pharmacy or target to prevent stretch marks

One thing to remember is that stretch marks can be hereditary.  But keep up your usual workout routine. If you are getting back to working out just walk on some terrains or hills to keep your heart beat going. Do some strength training. Must make sure to stop when u feel sick or if you feel pain. Also  be careful with balance amd anything that can hit your belly.

Congratulations! Firstly staying fit during pregnancy is great and if you were fit before than you shouldn't have yo alter your routine too much. Exercise is fine but as you get further along discuss with your Dr about possible weight restrictions. General rule: during pregnancy you should still be able to comfortably hold a conversation while exercising. If you are too winded to talk you need to tone it back a bit.... As for stretch marks there is no magic in avoiding them. Its important to keep the skin moisturized however genetics play a role and if you're going to get them you're going to get them. There is no avoiding it. Not all women end up with stretch marks but its one of those thing where you won't know for sure until you either get them or don't.
