It depends on the baby. For some unknown reason, breastfeeding just didn't click after my son was born.  We had samples of Enfamil and similac.  We started with Enfamil, which made his stomach upset. When we switched to Similac, he managed to give us 6 little presents the next day. We contacted Enfamil and Similac and asked for samples of formula before he was born. (Heard that it can take days for breastmilk to come in, so it's a good idea to have something to supplement with.) I would suggest contacting the dr and the companies to get samples.  Also try breastfeeding. You can get a free breast pump from your insurance company.

Ya I definitely don't recommend on stocking up on any certain formula until you know for sure it will be okay ;)

The formula will depend on what ur baby can handle. My first would vomit and/or not eat enfamil but loved the similac...and he ended up on the lactose free one bc he would cry and was so gassy with the regular and the breastmilk....so up to u but I wont touch Enfamil!!!

Typo:

*You CAN'T guarantee the amount of vitamins and minerals in each serving of breast milk.

Gerber Good Start. It is based on mothers breast milk and has DHA and ARA for brain and eye development. I personally am choosing not to breast feed, because even taking my prenatals, i personally don't feel like breast milk is a good source of nutrition as you guarantee the amount of vitamins and minerals in each feeding of breast milk. Where as with formula, I can look on the label and see exactly how many vitamins and minerals my baby is getting per serving. My theory is, if breast milk is so much better for a baby than formula, then why do you need to feed a every 2 to 3 hours on breast milk and every 3 to 4 hours on formula? Breast milk is natural, so it can be deemed as "better" and easier on the babys tummy, but formula has a garenteed amount of vitamins and minerals in every serving and as a mommy, i want to make sure my baby is getting all the needed vitamins and minerals in every feeding. As far as  finding a formula that is easy on the babys tummy, that would be up to you as a parent to research that information. I found that Gerber Good Start has protiens that are easier on the babys tummy than other milk based formulas, which was a plus for me. Try googling the top formulas and then go on Amazon.com, type in the formula and read the reviews from people. Thats what i did when i was looking for a formula. I hope this helps and good luck!

Your pediatrician can give you samples to see what works best.

If for whatever reason breastfeeding doesn't work for you and your baby, don't feel guilty or let people shame you. Similac and Enfamil are good brands. You might check labels though because usually generic brands are the same as the more expensive ones.

Nothing is better than breastmilk. If you can't breastfeed then the formula that works for your baby will depend on your baby. There isn't any formula that is best,it's just what sits well with your baby's belly.
