Got the ok this morning to try with child number 4. Tried modella with #3 but the pain was ridiculous... So I'm asking for help. I need to take it seriously. What do I need? Friends keep offering help but I don't want a crowd lol.

Try putting the shields in the freezer long enough so they get cold. that always helped me.

You may have an incorrect size flange (sp?)

I prefer a hand pump not electric. That way I control it all and it has different size cups. Breastfed two babies will do with this one too!

Try pumping with warm wet towel on your chest. It help release milk and reduce swelling.

I had heard its less painful if you go to a class and get different attachments??? It hurt SO bad I couldn't do it. Is there any truth to that ?

I used Medela pump in style and freestyle. Freestyle is more comfortable than the pis, IMO. All pumps are going to be uncomfortable, but if you soak your breasts in warm salt water after pumping it really soothes them, heals and lessens the pain.
