I didn't breastfeed my first 2 but I am with this one and I know that if u get WIC they let you use the ones they have till your done. I heard for a good pump they are at least $300

Check with your insurance.  Mine covers either a manual or electric but I have to wait until after she gets here for them to cover it.

All of my friends recommend seeing if you can rent a pump from the hospital. They are usually better quality than the ones that are affordable to buy.

You should look into your health plan i think part of the affordable care act is that a manual pump be free.

I put mine on layaway at Burlington Coat Factory and intended to pick it up before I gave birth. However, I went into labor a few days before I was going to get it and picked it up the day I got out of the hospital-- actually on the way home from rhe hospital.

Contact your insurance company first. Mine covered a breast pump! They are really expensive and now some companies will pay for it. And if you have a lactation consultant they will let you know what companies do.

Before. Theres no shame in being prepared. N freezing your milk for the future wont hurt.

I just got mine before because my husband only gets a week off work and wanted to feed the baby as much as possible so I wanted to make sure I had it in time. Better to be prepared lol

I would say after because you might not even need it and they are expensive. . At least the good ones are.
