You mean like a car seat check, at a fire station or something similar? They not only check the safety of the seat but also help you learn how to install and use it properly - definitely a must even with a brand new seat!! Over 80% of carseats are used incorrectly, so even if you're sure you can read the manual and do it right it's likely there's something you can learn from a licensed safety tech - and that you're not alone (I felt like an idiot when I learned that I wasn't latching my son's seat into the car quite right - I felt like a bad mom for unknowingly doing something that wasn't right. But I'm so glad I asked for help so I would learn how to keep him safer! And the tech said it was a common mistake and easy to make even after reading the directions so I didn't feel so dumb.)

Ask far as I know the hospital did it before you brought the baby home they run the serial number to make sure its UTD and not recalled. Hope this helps
