car seat

How do you pick a car seat? And does a baby use an infant car seat until its 1 or do you need a new car seat every year? I'm looking in to them so I know what to register for. What brand is your favorite and how long will my baby use it's infant seat?

I highly recommend the GRACO my ride 65 LX. It fits newborn all the way to 65lbs. I got one for my son whennhe was 3 months old and plan on getting one for each of my twins as it's a pain in the rear trying to pack after 3 months old and this why you don't have to ever buy a new one unless its involved in a accident.  My 7 year old fits in it comfortably and I wish I had went this rout with her instead of spending double the amout of one car seat on 5 different ones as she grew up.

Good luck and hope you get what works for you!

I love the bravo ones. That's all I have used with my daughter,  and we were even rear ended once and she was not hurt at all while the rest of us had whip lash. I saw an add that graco makes a car seat that grows with the kid now. So you'd only need the one.No idea how much it costs though.

I loved the infant car seat I had with my first. I got the chicco key fit 30 and the stroller that goes with it in a buddle. My son is 3 now and we still use the same stroller when he need it and we got a convertible car seat when he grew out of the infant seat. I got the Eddie Bauer convertible seat that he can use until he no longer needs a car seat. One of my favorite things with the chicco seat was the base that the car seat snaps into in the car. It was easy to get him in and out and I bought a base for my mom too so when we were in her car I didn't have to mess with making sure the seat belt was right.  Plus it was very easy to adjust the straps for the baby to get him in and out of the seat but also be safe. Loved that seat and using it with number two as well!

I am skipping the infant seat. For the dame price I get a convertible that lasts much longer. I have an evenflo. I plan on baby wearing or using the stroller if I dont want to hold her.they are also recommending babies stay rear facing for at least two years not just one year any more because it is safer for them to be rear facing.

I liked the ease of the "bucket" infant seat. If she fell asleep in the car i could just bring the entire seat in since she wasnt good with the transfer. She was a fairly petit girl though so i can see if you have a 20 lbs 8 month old how the bucket seat would be annoying.  If you plan on having another baby within 5 years you can reuse the infant seat for the next baby too.  That is my plan! My lil girl used the bucket seat until she was about 14 months then i switched to forward facing that turns into booster.  I bought an Eddie Bauer infant seat and i still love it as i found it not as heavy as some of the others.

Poor baby. A real lady does not lean into her food, she sits straight and brings her food to her. It takes practice but it is much easier than dragging around the extra weight. Like I said good luck, I did the car seat with my first and now feel stupid I ever did. I was a ftm and thought that was how it was done. I learned my lesson by trial and error and now have the experience to know what works for me. Yes you are right watch out for baby, sometimes you can forget you are wearing baby.

I have seen those slings they look really cool! I'm going to try one and I think I will get the infant car seat too since I'm a FTM and I don't know what's going to work lol! The only thing I can say about the sling is watch their heads this lady was out to eat and sat across from me and kept leaning in to eat and that babies head kept bumping in to the table.

I put baby in stroller or put baby in sling carrier. But I breastfeed if I am having lunch then my baby will start crying and want to nurse. With my kids it was just not helpful to lug the extra weight of a car seat around, I found things that was easier for me. Not every mom will feel that way but it worked better for me. Good luck on finding the right seat for you and your babies.

Is it hard to have a car seat that stays in the car when you go places? Like when you go to lunch you don't want to hold the baby while you eat wouldn't it be easier to have them sit in the car seat?

We now buy convertible car seats. We had an infant one for our first and she had out grown it in less than 6 months. After that we buy convertible car seats, last much longer. Plus the baby is much lighter without a car seat so I buy a good one that stays in the car. After they out grow that I buy a booster with a removable back, just make sure when you take it apart to clean it not to lose the back.lol. I had to buy a new one because my daughter was not old enough not to have a back.

Infant seats generally accommodate kiddos for the first 9-12 months depending on how fast they grow.
I personally will be skipping the infant seat this time in favor of a convertible seat that will last us much longer - the one my son uses now fits kiddos rear-facing from 5-45 lbs, forward-facing 5-point harness to 65lbs, and belt-positioning booster to 105lbs. It's an Evenflo Symphony 65 and I love it. Whatever we end up with for this baby will probably expire before baby is ready to ride in a car without a booster!

I have a graco. My sister has the same one. It's awesome. If you have a slanted seat in your car then the infant seat I have is perfect

I also got a graco and they usually use the infant car seats for about a year. It honestly depends on their weight.

I like the graco ones. My son was in the infant one for the first 8 months I think. Then went to a bigger rear facing one amd then got a 3 in 1 front facing. All are graco and I love them.
