Can contractions feel like period cramps? I lost my plug over the last few days and have s lot of pressure in my pubic bones. Today I have period like cramping, is that a contraction? First time mom, 37 weeks.

That's exactly what contractions feel like. Period cramps. If it's braxton hicks (not real labor contractions) then it will just be a mild pain and come & go irregularly. But they do increase in pain as you progress into labor. My doctor said if they come every 5 minutes for even 45 min straight, then that's real labor. Call the ER immediately & they will help you out and tell you to come in. And as far as losing your mucus plug already, you should definatly ask your doctor or call the hospital to see what you should do at this point. I lost mine while in labor at the hospital so I didnt notice it. Good Luck!

Yep. They start like period cramps and come and go. My first 2 babies started that way, quite mild cramps in lower tummy and back, then speading down to groin but would completely go away for a few minutes. Then they get stronger gradually to the point where it is hard to breathe through it (if you go that far without pain relief) My second baby came the same day as I lost my mucous plug, but I didnt notice losing it with my first... good luck!!!
