when i gave birth i took the depo shot before leaving the hospital, does it start working immedietly or i have to wait a certain time??

You have to wait a week, i was on it and it was a love/hate situation,  i loved not having my period which stoped after the 2nd shot but i hated the mood swings, i was more of a pink hulk lol..congratulations on your baby!

Yeah I would wait at least 4 weeks before having sex without a condom, but I guess if you have just given birth you probably don't want to be having sex for at least tht long anyway!

My doc said wait 6 weeks to have sex regardless of method of birth control. Not only do the hormones make it easier to get pregnant again, until your cervix is completely healed and back to normal the action of having sex can force air into your uterus and cause and air embolism..

You have to wait a month before you decide to not use a condom.... i was on the depo for quite a few years before.  After a month you don't need other protection.

You gotta use protection for the first couple weeks I was on it for 8 years before I got pregnant twice and that was after a year of not taking it anymore

Yea it does. I had it when i had my first son n i did wait 3wks before i had sex. But dr says to use condoms as a precaution.

When I got mine a couple years ago my doctor said to wait a week but I'm not positive if it was for the shot
