diarrhea & constipated

I'm 20w and I all of a sudden started getting those diarrhea stomach pains (and really bad too, almost in tears) but I have not been able to pass anything because I've been severly constipated. I sat on the toilet and only passed gas but the pains have stopped for now. All I have in my house is children's pepto tablets... can I take them? What else can I do? What have you done?

You can use natural fibre to aid in digestion...my doctor suggested the powdered metemusal...its gross but it helps. It doesn't cause diarrhea, it just helps you get regular. Drink more water, eat fruit and try a high fibre cereal. I've been eating fibre 1 and that really helps.
Good luck sweetie, I know how uncomfortable it can get, and the last thing you want is a hemroid on top of it all from hard poops!!

I had that so bad I went to the hospital.  Really Tylenol is all you can take. Drink lots of liquids and for me a heating pad on my stomach worked miracles. I am so sorry, I know how painful it is. Just tea, water and heating pad are my suggestions.  Then once you get past this just try eating more fiber as your prenatal pills are constipation and walking, working out, whatever gets you moving more to help work it through will help. Oh and over the counter stool softener is safe as well as Miralax.

Warm apple juice works for me. I also had to take a stool softner for a while. When u get the pains rub your stomach on the sides in a circular motion. It helps dull the pain until they pass.
