garlic to treat yeast infection.

So I during my check up last week my doctor informed me that I have a yeast infection. I was asymptomatic and had no clue I had one till he said so. He prescribed me an antifungal which is a class c drug. I didnt feel comfortable taking that so I did some research and found out that garlic has anti yeast properties and is natural.  Since I didnt want to just be shoving garlic in   my 'cooter' fearing infection etc. I baught some sugar/yeast/preservative free garlic pills from walgreens and put them in there. I hear a 7 day treatment with some cranberry juice should cure it. Anyone else ever tried or heard of this?

Garlic is good for kidney infections and UTIs and bladder infections....yogurt is good for yeast infections.
Sometimes you do need medication to clear somethings up.
And in the first trimester, medication is ok to take.

I used garlic if I catch it early enough, but a vinegar wash works just fine to. Both have antifungal properties, I will never buy monistat or any other commercial product, since they take longer to work and yeast infection usually returns soon after.

I've tried coconut oil too! I loved it the first time I tried it. Knocked it right out but the reason I didn't recommend it is because the next time I tried it, it seemed not to work as well. Maybe it was because the first time I caught the infection earlier. But yea if you take coconut oil and freeze it into a bullet shape then right before bed insert like a tampon and wear a pad.

I've tried garlic and it's too much. Apple cider vinegar also is great! I use that all the time. I'm definitely going you try to coconut oil. Thanks for this post!

Thank you ladies.  I did dab a little bit of apple cider vinegar on the outside for the itching and I've been drinking some cranberry juice to further balance out my PH. LauraElizabeth, the smell of garlic actually just woke me up from my sleep. It does feel like I can smell it coming out of my mouth. I might try the yogurt and coconut oil tomorrow since the garlic is a little too strong.

Never heard of.that but I do know.for.a fact that organic coconut oil placed.into.the vagina will instantly work (complete for three days) due to the huge amounts of lauric acid it contains that is a natural bacteria killer. I have used it personally and have recommended it to everyone I know with any sort of "kitty bug"..i.e.:bv, yeast infection, etc. And it has worked instantly for.all of us. Feel better soon!!

Another natural yeast killer is raw apple cider vinegar. You can get some on tissue and dab it around the whole vagina. Also I have done like a douche with it and it is great! It's an awesome natural ph balancer. But I will warn you and can burn. That's how you know it's working. After the yeast infection is all gone, when you dab down there you won't feel burning. The burn doesn't last long, like a minute or less.

I've used actual garlic up there. The first time was a bit scary and I thought I lost it up there. But all I had to do was use my muscles to push it out kinda like when you do kegels or push for pooping, and it came out easy! Worked well. I had done this before pregant so I tried it while pregant around 9 weeks and the smell of garlic was so overwhelming.  I love garlic but I couldn't get the smell out of my head. So just as I got up to take it out I ran to the bathroom and puked. From puking and peeing myself a bit, the garlic came out on its own. Sorry for the tmi. But they do say inserting it down there can create a garlic smell in your mouth. My lesson learned - no garlic up there during pregnancy. Lol

Yogurt works well. Plain and it MUST have live active cultures in the ingredients list. I've used a syringe (the kind that comes with children's oral medicine) to insert it vaginally. Wear a pad or liner to catch excess.

Definitely plain yogurt... that's how I have always treated mine... you can wat it, and insert it vaginally. just make sure its plain Greek if you go that route. Eat ar least 2-3 servings a day

Usually just eating a lot of yogurt will help clear up a yeast infection. I've never heard of garlic, but I've never researched either.
