I just did a little more digging and pregnancy does qualify as a life changing event. So you should be eligible to go through the state exchanges (healthcare.gov) and purchase a plan. I really would not recommend lying to the government about your spouse. That is considered fraud and could land you in some trouble if you were found out. :0)

Plus it's never too late to get health insurance

Have you tried doing a claim for Medicaid by yourself and not including your spouse if you are married!? Sometimes when you claim another person they will deny you. If that doesn't work you just might have to shop around and see what works best for the both of you

So the good news is no insurance company can deny you coverage because of your pregnancy. There is a bit of bad news, however. You are way past the enrollment period to get gov. Subsidized health insurance - insurance that you would have received a tax break on and the type that is heavily regulated in what they can and cannot do.

Because you had access to health insurance and chose to remain uninsured you may not be able to get an insurance company to cover any of your prenatal care, because it is a preexisting condition. Like I said, preexisting conditions can no longer disqualify you from insurance, but they don't need to cover expenses from it if you don't have a plan purchased through the state exchanges during open enrollment.

Your best option may be to get on your employer plan. They may still cover your pregnancy.
Or you can pay out of pocket till the state exchanges (ObamaCare) opens up enrollment again - sometime in November-December.
If you aren't married and get married you could be added to your husband's plan and it would be covered.
You MAY be able to find a plan on the open market, through an insurance agent, to cover you. This could be kinda pricey.
I know some people may tell you it can be cheaper if you don't get insurance and contract with the hospital directly, and in a perfect world where you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery they are right. But if God forbid you need a c-section and your baby spends time in the NICU you could end up in bankruptcy
. This is why it's always a good idea to have insurance. Good luck to you!
