I'm about 5'5" and before I got pregnant I weighed almost 250. I lost about 20 pounds in the first trimester due to vomiting. When I was about 19 weeks I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I have had to completely change the way I eat. Before I started the diet I gained back about 7 pounds. Since I started I've lost 3 more. I'm 22 weeks now and finally have my sugars in check but my doctor and nutrionist said I will continue to lose weight and that because of the diabetes they will be monitoring the baby more closely. I'm not trying to lose weight just doing what I have to to keep the diabetes under control but if I could be around 200 by the time she's born I wouldn't object!! I would just check with your doctor or maybe put yourself on a gd diet lol good luck!
I'm going to wait till baby is born then it's on. Running and cardio TIME.. Looking forward to it..
My midwife said to not try to lose weight while pregnant it can deprive your baby and stunt growths and to me its not worth it. When I had my first son I weighed 145 and im 5'7 I worked out daily and I gained 50 pounds by the end... didn't lose it all and started birth control so gained a few more on top of that. This is my second pregnancy I was overweight when I got pregnant this time I weighed about 165-170 beginning now I weigh 184 and I'm 27 weeks I eat healthy and walk occasionally but ive had a lot of complications this pregnancy and don't feel like its worth the risk so I'll focus on it after baby! I will get back down to size 6 jeans!!
uhm over weight or not its not healthy to lose weight while pregnant.you just need to not gain more than about 20-25
Just talk to your doc and pay attention to your body. Sometimes when I walk for a long time I will start to feel a little crampy. My doc says to just stop exercising when that happens, drink water and relax then pick up again the next day. And don't restrict calories like you would when not pregnant. Just focus on eating healthy portions and when hungry.
It is safe to lose weight during pregnancy especially if you're considered obese. But since you're pregnant you can't lose weight like everyone else. Walking 5 miles a day is amazing just stay hydrated. And when it comes to eating don't under eat. Just eat healthier. Lots of fruits and veggies, good proteins and a lot less carbs.
Good luck I hope you make your goal but remember even if you don't making your body healthier for you and the baby is still a great accomplishment.
dont feel bad im 5'7 and im weighing 199 right now i was 167 and thus is my second baby
Just make sure you talk to your docter the entire time and adjust your regimen ad needed as you get further alomg
Thanks girls for your thoughts :)
You can lose weight but since your so early in pregnancy you can actually lose the baby. Wait till your five months and walk that much. Till then eat 3 small healthy good meals and have healthy snacks too. Dont over work ur body its not good for baby or you.
I weighed the same as you when I found out at 2 months. I was thinner before but I gained weight and tried working it off and was but I got pregnant. But now that im 6 1/2 months... im walking and I eat right.
I've lost 10 lbs and hope to loss a little more. I could easily lose 30 lbs by the time the baby is born. All of this is mostly due to eating better and not drinking anymore. I'm also exercising, mostly walking the dog, medium weight lifting, and some light core work (great for when going into labor so I've heard). As long as your doctor is okay with you losing healthy weight you should be okay.
Omg I gained about 50 pounds with my last two and now im weighing 193 im 5'3 . Im afraid of having complications like high blood pressure idk if I should do light exercises or just eat healthy after all my body belongs to my baby. Im 6 weeks 1 day
I was on the bigger side when I got pregnant as well I was right about 187 at 5'4 I was not trying to lose weight I am down to 168 and my dr is a little nervous that I lost so much in the first 13 weeks but said as long as I at the very least maintain going forward I will be fine and baby is and ready measuring big. Just talk with your doctor and focus on being the best and healthiest you and mother you can be!
Good for you I would just make sure your eating habits are good and atiquate for pregnancy. Also run it by your obgyn to see if they have any concerns about it first. My doctor used to tell me I was pregnant and I didn't have a disease that prevents me from doing excercise. Lol.
Have you talked to your doctor about this? It's never good to start diets/exercise while pregnant without your doctors approval. Just be careful with the baby
