The needle in back creeps me out. Funny that creeps me out & not the rest. My first 2 I had an IV pain killer instead. My last one I had nothing because there wasn't time she came too quickly. Afterward I was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought not having anything to help ease the pain.

I was going to try natural but no way those pain were excruciating I was screaming for that epidural which I didn't get because the baby's head was already coming out. I'm getting an epidural with my next baby. I know a few ladies that didn't even feel any pain during labor. Everybody is different.

I think it's all about your mindset. Of course there will be pain but it helps to look up hypnobirth techniques, how to focus your energy and see birth in a different way instead of terrible and painful. Watch videos on "amazing natural births" or homebirth stories.

Really depends on a lot of factors - how you're made physically, position of bub, size, length of labour, plus levels of comfort, trust and encouragement are a massive part of it - more fear and second guessing can physiollogically lead to more pain. I've had natural births (waterbirths - which helped a LOT with the pain!) and found them bearable but really depends on you, your baby and your situation. I'd start by finding one or 2 very supportive birthing partners who will give you the encouragement you need, and also start telling yourself that you can do this!

I have done it twice without any meds and plan on doing this again. It does hurt but it is certainly bearable!!  God created woman's body for this! For thousands of years women were giving birth with no meds. Say to yourself, if others could do it, why can't I??? :) Just prepare some breathing techniques, use a tub if avail, have someone hard massaging your lower back when contraction come. You can do it, momma! :)

I had natural for my first child. It was a lot of pain but bearable enough until I started pushing. I had a fast labor up to this point (4hrs of contractions before I started pushing) so it didn't seem too bad. But then my baby got stuck and instead of pushing 20 min, I was pushing for 3 hrs! That was miserable, exhausting, and so painful. If my baby had come out after a normal amount of pushing it would have been an experience where I would have said, man that hurt like nothing I've ever experienced but it went faster then expected and was doable with no epidural. But because he got stuck and I had 3 hrs of such miserable back pain and pushing I think I'm going to do an epidural this time! Everybody's body is different and their pain levels are different too. I would say, go for a natural birth at least once and see how it goes and next time you can always do an epidural. I'm glad I didn't have an epidural so that I could experience it at least once in my lifetime, but once is enough for me!
