prolonged schooling

I asked my doctor to induce me on my due date  Aug25th if she isn't already on her way. She asked why and I simply stated that I want her to start school on time. She stared at me for a second so I had to explain, being born in Sept means starting school a year later as well as an additional year of daycare. She understood but seemed apprehensive. I don't understand the problem, I'm not asking to be induced early. Am I wrong for considering the financial ramifications of 5 days?

Here in NJ the cutoff is usually at the end of October. However even if you induce who knows if she'll start on time, she may not be ready and need to start a year later anyway

They should give y'all wHat you are asking for. It is reasonable and if I were you I would be looking up ways to go into labor early on my own, if it does not work insist the Dr do what you ask. I had to before I just acted like I did not hear him say no. I said well I am being induced on this day and he said I can't and I just kept going on about how it was great because I was miserable and on. Don't give your doc a choice.

I agree with you cause I live Florida and my baby is due in November. I was also born in November myself and when my mom went to register me for school when I was at 4 because I was going to be 5 that year. They said I had to wait until next year August because I am not 5 yet. So I wasted a whole year doing nothing.

For me it's not about financial gain. It's about my son getting to bond with his father. It's not unsafe especially at 40 weeks. I think it's completely reasonable and in my case something the baby and dad both need.

Is the financial gain really worth putting your baby/labor at risk, because being induced can do that in many ways. Read up on it a little more. My labor and delivery teacher basically explained that for baby you want to avoid induction unless medically necessary. I'm guessing that's why your doctors were responding like that.  If those days are really that important, i'd get to walking, squatting and all the natural things like that. My best friend was born in November though and was almost a year younger than me in the same grade. Maybe it varies by state or has changed since i was a kid. I am avoiding induction at all costs after learning about it and i'm due sept 3rd.

I don't think there is anything wrong with either on of ur request!  And the school thing is important to me too! My doc moved my due date and now I've talked him into sweeping the membranes on Aug 28th if I haven't had her yet! I need her here by Aug 31st! I already have a November baby so she will start school late and I didn't even think about it this time till my mom was like u need to try to have her by Aug 31st! Lol

You could try inducing your own labor! like with sex, walking alot, jumping on the bed, riding a bike, just be very active.

I asked my doc to induce me on Thursday which marks 40 weeks for me. My husband works on a boat and has to leave the following Wednesday for 6 weeks and my dr started laughing basically and said no. I left his office in tears today
