to me to shop for a pediatrician..

So, I'm almost 30 weeks and my Doctor keeps giving me crap because we haven't started shopping for a pediatrician. Our insurance *****, so I keep thinking the city health center is our best choice (sliding scale fees & available assistance programs) but I want my little boy to have quality healthcare. Any advice from Mothers who already have children? I'm at a loss.

I picked mine out through my insurance website... searched by location, insurance,  and by type of doctor and I found an awesome doctors office for my daughter... did that a year ago when we moved... so when my 2nd daughter was born a month ago I didn't have to do anything except tell the hospital and doctor who we had

Ask your doctor for a list of pediatric providers. He should have a list available. Than search the names online doctor grades.com and call and ask if theyhave openings for newborns and  than just pick that one for after birth

I wouldn't rush it but I would definitely start looking and have one infant and child care medically is very different then adult medical care. A lot of the regular family drs aren't really trained well enough to figure out the childhood illnesses or even dealing with kids in general

I don't have one picked out either I'm 36 weeks. You want to do what's affordable and if you don't know any of the drs. I would wait. I'm waiting to see which pediatrician sees us at hospital and if we will like this person. We only have three in this town and I'm not a fan of any of them. I'm thinking of just using our family dr. You shouldn't feel pressured into picking one prematurly

Nothing wrong with going to a local clinic or city heath center. I have a pediatrician through my local community heath center for both my boys.
