twin pregnancy

I recently took a couple of pregnancy tests that came back positive, and i've put on weight and even my doctor says im expecting actually he said im more than likely expecting twins. When i went for my ultrasound the other day they couldn't find a sac for either fetus i figure im anywhere from 2-3 months i haven't had any cramping or bleeding. Could they just be hidden or have i lost my babies? has anyone had this happen to them

You're doctor said since twins run in your family you're having twins?

I don't understand how a medical professional can say that without any proof. I would get a second u/s done in a few weeks and not go by family history alone. If that were the case...my grandmother should have had 5 sets of twins instead of singletons...both of my aunts should have had twins instead of singletons.

I have lots of twins in the family and my doctor figured i was having twins as well so i was just going by that, but what baffles me is that at my ultrasound their were no sacs detected at all, probably doesn't help that i have no idea how far along i am

At the same time as a singleton. Multiple pregnancies aren't all that different than singletons other than more babies, a bigger belly and well...that was it for me.

If it's simply because of a big belly or whatever, you can't go by that as a multiples pregnancy.

5-6 weeks. Why do you suspect twins?

By 2-3 months you would know if you're having twins if you had an u/s. I had twins and we knew at 9 weeks. Both babies were seen, both sacs there and everything.
