I had that happen with my third.  Labor would start contractions were a few minutes apart then it would pretty much just stop for like an hour or more.  But since I was progressing my doctor broke my waters after about 20 hours, I was at 5 cm, had her in my arms 20 min later.

Not fun but normal yes. Try sitting on the edge of a seat with your knees open. The toilet also works. My midwife taught me this one. Then kinda roll over your belly, stay for about 30 seconds and then repeat. This can help bring baby down further and cause a stalled or erratic labor to pick up. Hope you are back in hospital soon. (Sorry that sounds mean but I hope you know what I mean)
