washing baby clothes

I need to know if I can wash my babies clothes in my normal detergent/fabric softener. I don't have time to go to the store to pick anu up before my induction date (this Friday)
I know I can do an extra rinse in the laundry to make sure most of it comes out but I need opinions.
is it ok to use liquid tide/downy?

My friend's baby was allergic to that baby def detergent, got a rash from it. She uses tide, which is what she wash her clothes in and didn't have a problem. So I just washed my baby clothes with what we use which is gain original. I will be paying close attention if she has a reaction then I'll re wash everything. But you cant really tell what they will be allergic to. I say don't worry just pay close attention, baby might not have a problem.

I wouldn't use Tide. It's a very strong detergent. I'm an adult & it breaks me out.

They have tide and all free and clear. You can use that on everyone's clothing. I wouldn't risk using regular detergent on your baby's sensitive skin.i uses dreft with my first, the free and clears weren't around then with my second they were just becoming mainstream and I switched over and saved about 8 dollars for each purchase.

I had to use dreft on my son when he was a baby.  I tried using a bunch of other brands that didn't have anything in it and his skin was still too sensitive for it.  I'll probably go with dreft again with # 2 just to avoid and possible skin irritations..

I've never bought special soap. I just use arm and hammer, or gain

I heard purex because it doesn't have a lot of fragrance to it.

I just worry because I know someone and her daughter got really bad skin discoloration on parts of her body from laundry detergent.. Just hope your baby has tough skin I guess.

I used regular soap with mine...if he has a reaction when he is born then I'll switch but lots of my family and friends said regular is fine
