It depends on three person.. if I wouldn't of pumped for the first 6 weeks their is no way I could of breast fed my girls for as long as I did.. at the end I decided to stop .. It was not because I dried up.. both got breadtmilk for over a year..
Every 2 hrs for 20 min.. I tried to breastfeed with both. my first didnt latch on my second was a preemie so I wasnt able to bf..so I pumped thats how I keep my milk supply good enough to strickly breastfeed for over a year.. I would recommend the medela breast pump.. hopefully this time around he latches on
They say not to pump for the first 6 weeks so your supply gets use to baby. If you use machine right away it will dry it up. Lucky with my first baby I was able to breastfeed for a year. I didn't start pumping till he was 3 months, and after I pumped three times a day. Try to breastfeed more often then pump. Keeps the milk supply coming
You need to pump at least every four hours. However your work legally needs to accommodate you with the time and space.
