1st trimester blood glucose test

Hi ladies.  Have any of you been required to do a 1st trimester blood glucose 1hr screening?  Because of my age (36) and being overweight (224lbs at 5'5") I have been ordered to take a first trimester blood glucose test to check for diabetes early.  I cannot tell you how awful it is to be here, empty stomach fasting, and have to drink that syrupy stuff when I'm still in the throws of 1st trimester nausea.  Trying not to throw up. But already dizzy.  If you did a 1st trimester blood glucose screening, how did yours go?

Wow never heard of it being done in the first trimester. I am also short and overweight but doc still did mine this week at 25 weeks. Luckily I passed and I was told I didn't have to fast before hand but was told not to put syrup on my pancakes or have a couple donuts for breakfast.
This time around the drink wasn't so bad I got to choose the flavor. Fruit punch. Was still icky but not nearly as bad as the orange I had with my daughter.

I did one at 6 weeks and failed it miserably. They did it that soon because diabetes runs in my family and they wanted to make sure I wasn't already diabetic. I just did my gestational diabetes test and my results were "Glucose within normal range."
Turns out the first Dr I went to did the test wrong, didn't have me fast nor did they check my glucose before having me drink that nasty stuff.

I had to take it at 8wk  with my last pregnancy. I not only failed but found out I am type 2diabtic,  not just gestational.  I miscarried the following week. I almost passed out after taking the drink. Started spinning, luckily my mom got me to the ground before I did tho. Now I am 32 wks, take daily oral meds n check sugar levels 3-4x a day. But I don't have to take that test.

I did with both of my pregnancies because I have pcos which increases the risk of diabetes.  I passed both times.  I didn't have an problems with it making me sick.  Granted this time I was on Zofran, because everything made me sick. I have my third trimester gtt tomorrow morning.

My first baby was 9lbs and i had severe polyhydramnios even though i passed my screenings. So when i got pregnant 8 weeks postpartum they did the 3-hour test in my first trimester. I failed. My only side effect was a TERRIBLE headache on my way home from the test. Just remember it is for your health as well as baby. Good luck!

Mine wasnt too bad. I was nervous because I had gastric bypass 2 years ago so I was afraid of dumping and being super sick. I had no side effects and it wasnt as terrible as I imagined. It did taste pretty gross though, like a melted sugary orange popsicle. Good luck!
