3 hr Glucose test results
Hi all. Well I got the results back from my 3 hr Glucose test. I passed by the skin of my teeth.
There are two standards that are used. A less and more conservative standard. If your results are high on at least two of the blood tests, then you are positive for gestational diabetes.
Result Conservative limit Less Conservative Limit
Fasting 75 Passed 65-95 65-105
1 hour 169 Passed 65-180 65-190
2 hour 161 65-155 Failed 65-165 Passed
3 hour 152 65-140 Failed 65-145 Failed
So for the more conservative standard, I failed but passed by the less conservative standard. My dr says she uses the less conservative standard because she said there is no proof that the less conservative standard is safer and she thinks leads to over diagnosis. She counseled me on how to improve my situation with diet and said there was no more testing needed. I feel pretty good about it and am not going to get worked about it. Things are going GOOD!! BTW, I'm in the third trimester now!! :)

Congrats on passing your glucose test Hannah! Sorry you had to go through the 3 hours one. I'll have mine in 3 weeks. Third trimester! Wonderful! Enjoy your holidays!
I have been a sweet monger too I don't know this last month it is all I crave and with xmas wow it is like they are all around haha

I am so glad! Whew! Oh well, I guess I'll do the right thing and have a couple of cocktails for you and eat some chocolate, lol.

Oh, I totally agree with you on the borderline results. I've already implemented my new diet and am determined to stick as closely to it as possible. Of course I will have some pie at Christmas tho :)
Wouldn't you know it tho. A friend of mine is throwing a death by chocolate party this friday night. Can't eat or drink?? What sucky party that is going to be for me!!!
I know I can't totally cut sugar and other simple carbs out of my diet, but I have been going way overboard and that is coming to an end. I'm lucky because I really do know what a good diet is, I just haven't been following it. And I really do love vegetables and whole gain foods. I'm not a big protein eater tho. I'm naturally a carb addict and on top of that, I've been eating way more sweets than I did before I got pg. But no more!!
Good luck with your test also. Let us know as soon as you know more.

I am so glad your test went well. I am such a whiny butt, I got a terrible headache, and am just now feeling better. I won't get my results until the 27th when I go back to the dr (unless he calls me with them).
It is better to be cautious with the numbers you have, they sound borderline. I would just heed what your doctor told you about diet, and exercise regularly and I think you will be fine. I am so happy that you are in the third trimester, wow, time flies. Congrats!!

Thanks everyone. I went back and read what I wrote and realized I made a couple of errors. Hopefully you were able to sort it out and make sense of it. The bottome line I think came through which is I PASSED Ya-Wooooooo..

I've been thinking about you. It seems I haven't seen much of you since your glucose scare. You are such a smart lady, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. But try to increase your proteins and complex carbs and decrease any simple carbs. Simple carbs turn into sugar in your blood just like actual sugar does. I say this while I'm unwrapping a starburst and chowing down. lol.
Again, I'm sure you already know this and are eating well. Glad to hear you passed! Enjoy your 3rd trimester.
