Constipated

Hi lady's I'm pregnant and I'm super constipated, I'm not been able to use the laboratory in three days, wich that is the longest I can ever remember, I'm pretty much healthy, I eat vegan/vegetarian most of the time, meat only once a week, eight glasses of water I drink a day, I don't drink sodas or eat any prosses food.
Before my pregnancy I was going to the laboratory three to four times always in the morning, now I can't even go and when I try is painful, I don't know what to do? Any help please!

The important thing to remember is to drink a lot of water. Water helps soften stools and is what aids fiber in improving digestion. Stool softeners draw water into the intestine to soften your stool, which makes it easier to pass. Propping your feet on a stool when you go to the bathroom also helps align your intestines for easier excretion. Also, walking helps speed up peristalsis, which is the involuntary movement of smooth muscles in your intestines. This helps move things along faster. The last thing I can think of is to always go immediately when you feel the urge so your intestines don't absorb the water out of the stool making immediately harder to pass. Activia has helped me out tremendously. One to two servings a day help me.

Prune juice...... It's natural way of getting rid of constipation. I had very bad constipation during pregnancy & once I had prune juice I never had it again during whole pregnancy.  I used to drink 1 cup 2 times a week. Good luck

I couldn't tolerate Metamucil but my doc had me take docusate. When things got bad,i was allowed Miralax and was able to take two children's vitamins a day until things improved then began a daily Benefiber dose. I restarted my prenatal and have done Benefiber daily without a problem since.

Stool softener helps--double check with doc.  Digestion slows down when pregnant.  It could also be related to your prenatal.  You could try switching that up and see if anything improves.  Ask doc if you can take one that's iron free to experiment.  Good luck.  It's no fun mama.
