Cramps

I am 5.3 weeks pregnant and I have moderate camps on the left side.  I did have a fairly large ovarian cyst with my last pregnancy and it felt the same way.  I don't want to overreact because I usually do that and I put to much thought into it also.  Did anyone else have this also?

Hi there,

I know what you're going through. Even now if I get a slight cramp,  I freeze and worry that something is wrong.   When i was 5.3 weeks in - didn't know I had a cyst then.  Had a few sharp like stabbing/jabbing sensations on the left.  Dh and I were scared.  When my OB asked if I'd felt any discomfort - in my head I was screaming,"WHY ? What's wrong?"   Turned out I have a large cyst - looked larger than the sac when I first saw it.  To this day i still check TP for blood.    I've learned :  no heavy lifting - or stretching or turning to the side quickly. When I'm really tired after long day - uterus seems to feel achey - like a throbbing ache.
I know its hard, and I am learning to practice what I preach - try to relax a bit.   The stress we put on ourselves doesn't help.   Did you your first yet - when do you go for your next appointment  ?

Thanks, it makes me feel better to know that someone else was thinking the same question and to know that other people have had it also.  I am trying to be calm but it is hard because my last pregnamcy did not end well and every little cramp or pain scares me.

Hey, Sue are you feelin better?

Hi,

I had some cramping mid 5th week too - and the occasional jabs/yanks.  I found out weeks later that I had a large cyst on left ovary that was probably the cause of discomfort.  OB said that cysts usually resolve themselves in time so I'm not worried.  If I had known earlier I wouldn't have freaked out - was thinking the worse too.  So, I guess the ligament stretching feels the same ? Is it sharp sometimes too ?

I'm so dumb - it snowed yesterday and I didn't shovel but, more like pushed it off the driveway.  Felt some cramping in the centre ab and it was light but, scared me enough to stop.  I'm trying to take it easy now - but, hate feeling helpless.  I have to keep bean in mind though and limit physical exertion.

Hi girls, I had bad period like cramps up until week 19 or so.
First few months it was due to a cysts (pregnancy cyst), that finally went away...the rest of the time was normal ligament stretching, or your body do its "thing"
I definately had it as early as 5 weeks.
Hang tight...it is very very commmon!

Cramping is pretty normal. It could be the cyst, or just what my OB refers to as "settling in".  Minimal or moderate is fine, but still mention it next OB app.  If it becomes severe or is accompanied by bleeding, you need to call your OB.  Never worry about over reacting...it's always best to err on the side of caution.  I am sure all is fine though...cramping is pretty common.  Good luck!!!
