Hi - anyone else have O-negative bloodtype and have to have Anti-D injections during pregancy?

Hi all -
I just recently found out that I have a O-negative blood type which I think means I have no resus antibodies in my blood? Most of the population do. It basically means I can give blood to anyone but only 0negs can give blood to me if needed. I have to have an injection of Anti - D (which is retracted from a positive blood type -yuk!) at 29weeks (now), 34 weeks and again when babys born we both have it. Im definately going to have them so my blood doesnt (potentially) attack the babys blood which is why they give them to you. In precaution.
Im not overly concerned as theres apparenty no risk I just thought it was odd and wondered if anyone else has the same thing and what they feel/ think about it?
thanks ladies! xx

I have 2 children 7 1/2 and 5.  I had the Rhogam shot with both of mine at 28 wks and after I had them.  I am 25 wks. now and will have my shot in 3 wks.  Its not a big deal.  I know lots of women who have to have it.  My sister also had to with her 3 children.  I don't think its anything new, I just think nobody really talks about it.

Having RH negative blood is not uncommon, and Rhogam injections are the best way to ensure that no antibodies develop.

The injection is given at or around 28 weeks, and then when you deliver, the baby's cord blood will be tested to determine the babies blood type.  If the baby is RH positive, you will be given another Rhogam injection.

The injection is also given if you have bleeding during pregnancy.

It is very common, and Rhogam injections have been given for decades now.

This must be a new thing as I only had my anti D after the birth. Also, isnt anti D man made nowadays, thought I heard/read that?

Hi. I'm A neg. and pregnant with my third child. I'm due for my injection at my next MD visit. With my other 2 I received an injection around 28 weeks and right after delivery. I've never had a problem so I am not concerned.
