I was so sick with my son, I didn't eat for 5 months. My doctor told me I HAD to eat at least one cracker and a piece of cheese every two hours. Once I hit the third trimester, I was eating up a storm.

I'm glad to hear your little love is right on schedule!  And it sounds like you have a very attentive doctor who is paying attention to you and that's just wonderful too!

Hope you get your appetite back soon!  Good luck :)

Thanks guys, I had to go in and get my Progesterone shot today (i get this twice a week) So when I talked to the nurse she told the dr and dr said she wanted me seen today. She gave me an ultrasound :) baby is exactly to the day the size he/she should be and had a heartbeat. Also she wants me checked for gallstones (not sure of spelling) because of the pain I get when I eat and she gave me a medicine for a stonger antacide to see if that helps.

Most of the time, weight loss is not a huge problem, as long as you're eating healthy. But it doesn't sound like you are! So, as some others said, try quality if you can't handle quantity. Make your calories count...drink Ensure or a protein shake (even Slim Fast would be okay). As for the vitamins, it's true that some effect you differently. My prenatals made me sick with my first two pregnancies, but this last one I never got sick with the vitamins. I took Target brand prenatals, and always took them after food.

Overall, I wouldn't worry too much about the weight loss...you will gain toward the end of your pregnancy. I'm overweight...but by week 35 I had only gained two pounds. By week 36 I had gained seven pounds - mostly water retention. Then I had my baby at 36 weeks. I've lost 24 pounds since I had the baby! So, who knows...as long as you keep yourself healthy, you may end up weighing less after the baby is born than you did when you got pregnant! As I said...just make sure you're eating nutritious food!

Try taking flintstone gummy vitamins.  I hear they're good if you can't take regular vitamins.  But back it up with folic acid and calcium.

Not sure if that's is your first appt, but maybe your doc will notice weight loss and advise you.   Try drinking milkshakes to at least get something in you.   You have some extra maternal weight so I wouldn't worry too much about it.   I've been losing weight as I've been nearing the end of the pregnancy...or maybe it's water...but no ones said anything to me as far as it being an issue.

for the first trimester.. you might gain weight or loose weight due to morning sickness.. that's will be okay... just let your doctor know... he/she will keep an eyes on that issue.. If second trimester you are still loosing your weight, then it's a problem..

wanting4#1 is right.. eat peanut butter and jelly is very good.. go McDonald buy a milkshake.. try to eat something high calories.. don't worry about how much you weight.. worry about how much nutrition can you give your baby...

I eat peanut butter and jelly sandwich for snack.. even late night.. i can't find anything to eat.. i eat that.. quick and good for you..

Prenental vitamins might not good for you at this moment if you have nausea.. if not, then you need to take vitamins...

good luck

One thing that I did to help offset my nausea is to eat a few crackers all day. If I never let myself get hungry, it was a lot easier to eat.

Also, I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (the one thing that I read said if you find something that you can eat, eat it...even if it's 3x a day!!)....also, try to drink milkshakes or Ensure. Something with calories....also, I ate a lot of french fries, starchy kinds of food!

I hope this helps and hopefully, your m/s will be gone soon! ;)

KellyM - most books/forums/experts will tell you not to worry about losing weight in the first trimester due to morning sickness. I'm not sure snappiness is the best way to help someone looking for help....she didn't say that she was intentionally not eating in order to lose weight.

I would mention it to your doctor, but I wouldn't be overly concerned.  I have heard and known a lot of women that lose their appetite and weight during early pregnancy and throughout.  Just be mindful when you do eat, to eat very healthy nutritious food.  Have you always eaten very little, or is this since you became pregnant? You can opt to take your prenatals before bed, or with food if they upset your stomach.  Best wishes!

Well, "I never eat and when I do it's maybe once a day and a few bites" you're 12 weeks pregnant, don't you think you need to eat for the baby's sake?  I baby's brain needs nourishment to thrive. Are you overweight?  Why can't you take your pre-natal? Does it make you sick? There are several kinds on the market that you could have been trying. Yes I would tell you dr. so that they can advise you on a proper diet for you and your baby.
