Menstrual-like cramps

I will be 21 weeks tomorrow and for the past two weeks or so I have been having menstrual-like cramps. They don't come at any particular time and like period cramps, it hurts in my lower abdomen and back. Are these Braxton Hicks contractions? Why am I experiencing this?

They can be Braxton-hicks or it could just be baby stretching out in his enclosure. Make sure you stay well hydrated and if you seem to be up and about when it comes on, take a rest and if you are resting, try to get up and move a bit.
